Musical Instruments
a-one, a-two, a-one two three four...

If this has been posted before, please forgive because I have been absent for many a day. But.. are there musical instruments coded into the game.. besides a type of guitar? A drumset perhaps, maybe saxophones, clarinets, trombones and the like? And if so, would a skill governing the ability to play those be acceptable? Or would it be so insignificant that you could just roleplay out your skill level on a given instrument? Thanks.
Were perfectly happy with players modifying material objects to make instruments and RP their way to stardom. Others have done it, so can your character.
So far there isn't any other instruments that I know of. My character actually is known for being able to play the guitar, but I actually haven't been able to find an actual coded guitar. If it was coded I'm sure there would be some kind of skill required so that you didn't suck incredably at it. I know that the new Artistry skill would probably work quite well for a coded guitar. I was considering a musical thread awhile seeing as there are no instruments IC'ly and I think those would probably be a huge part of a cyberpunk environment.
Ah... yeah. I'm not sure how cyberpunk this all is, but I'd love to see a sort of a bluesy smokey bar routine in The Drome. Dimmed lights, cold drinks, and almost nothing but the sweet sounds of a sax and light beats of brushes on a drumset filling the air.
Man, that'd rock hard.
But on to my next question. Materials. I'm pretty sure they've been abolished from the tables at the clothing depot, so how is a character supposed to get them? From the tailors? I don't think this makes alot of In-game sense. Would GMs be willing to grant materials to players whose histories state, in one way or another, that they are able to play a given instrument? Or that have taken lessons in-game somehow (perhaps from an NPC), giving the chance for older characters to pick up instruments, if they wish to do so?

Or.. did I just miss the point by a mile?

:boom:

The lack of a coded object says nothing for somethings IC existence. There are definitely guitars and other musical instruments in the game. They just don't need anything special. Your just emoting and posing with them. And they only need to be material objects right now.

The IC existence of an object is NOT defined by an object being coded.

As for getting them from GMs, I'm sure something can be arranged, somehow. Ideally, it'd involve you ICly finding the guitar.

It's possible.

Alright. Thanks for the replies, both of you.

Looking forward to jazzing it up soon...

;)

I don't know, The Drome doesn't seem classy enough for jazz.  Yeah, I think some music around would be cool.
It would be great to see music RPed openly again, and it'll open up the opportunities to have large events with hired bouncers and an agency renting some space outdoors on Red maybe, rigging a stage etc once the artist gets big.

I think that jazz may not be too fitting for the Drome but would work perfectly at Grunens, and may attract some people there again. Believe it or not, but it used to one of SDs hot spots; maybe it can be again :)

Regarding equipment/instruments, without revealing too much IC info I believe that there are a few coded items around, such as sound decks. Well to the extent that they are not made from material ;)
