It would be great if Postingboards and similar items would use SIC ID to determine the Author. Or just ask the character to provide an author name.
Unless the IC idea is that the board has a camera built in and snaps a photo of the poster - then having the character object name makes perfect sense. If so, I would suggest adding something like "look on board" so you could see the description of the poster in more detail (this would be the character taking a closer look at the photo attached to a given post) and adjusting the description to indicate that a camera is present.
I just wanted to add that I LOVE this item.
