An e-net module can be bought and attached to an e-note like other accessories. Once done you can introduce a variety of possible functionality. I haven't played with the new e-notes much so half of this would probably need to be adapted to fit existing frameworks.
USER ACCOUNT
You can now create an enet user account. Or sign in using an existing enet user account.
SEND/RECIEVE FILES
If you have signal, you can send a file to an enet user by name. Once the receiving device is on and in signal, they will have the option to receive the sent file as long as there's enough memory.
NET MAIL
Throw a netmail option in the menu. Now you can send mails to other users with your enote.
CONNECT TO DATABANK
Pull up the data on a databank if your user has access rights.
OTHER
Probably lots of things an e-note with an e-net could do that I am not thinking of right now.
WHAT ABOUT THE GRID?
This is valid. I personally dislike the grid and would love to see more in MOO devices take over that role but that's up to me. I remember a vote on the topic of web based or in MOO grid so I suspect staff is thinking about which way they want to go. If it's to the MOO, then this could be a way to start the migration. The web based grid isn't just killed. A competing technology just crops up and, maybe, one day replaces it. NLM terminals vs PRI e-notes.
