What's a newbie meant to do?
Where to go to get involved?

Hey!

I'm new to these types of games and I saw someone mention Sindome on Reddit so I DuckDuckGo'd it and landed here. It looks pretty awesome, people in xgame chat were super helpful and I whipped up a character.

I'm loving it so far, but my first hour after creating my character were spent walking around the Red Sector, soaking up the lore and descriptions and buying some Xtreme Nacho Nutritubes I wasn't sure how to eat. 🤷‍♀️

My main question though, and I reckon this is going to be one of those "FOIG" situations but I figured I'd try is; how do you find other people to roleplay with? While soaking up the lore is fun in itself, I'd really like to actually get involved and roleplay, that's what I'm here for after all.

Is there a way to find out where the general public is hanging out in, or do I just have to keep wandering around until I get lucky and stumble on someone or something happening?

Thank you!

I suggest trying the @newbie command to check out the OOC help guide for new players, and also using your character's SIC chip to poke around and find out about what's happening. You can check out some help files like 'help sic' to get a better idea of what that entails.
You can ask bartenders "where's the party at?" and if there's a gathering somewhere, they'll tell you.

But I think one of the best ways to find RP as a newbie is SIC. Hang out in a bar and wait until someone on SIC says something that interests your character. Then ask them about it. Maybe ask how you can help. They may include you!

When a character asks for a runner (they want to pay a character to take something to a person or place), jump on that. Then after running, ask them if there's anything else you can do.

Thank you, I did see a few bars on my walk and hesitated to go in because of the price and my character's age, but I'll reconsider now!

I'll look into the SIC and try to figure that out too. Super useful replies, thank you. :)

I'd also say that SIC is your friend. Listen to people talk about things they are doing. You can often figure out where they are by what they say.

Be confused. It's okay. No one expects new characters to know things. Some will help you. Some will take advantage of you. All of that is good story. Don't be afraid to do things even if it doesn't benefit you.

Think about places that people would go IRL. Check those places out.

Welcome to the game and have a great time!
