Hey everyone -

2023 was a great year for improvements to the game. We had an average of 47.5 bug fixes & improvements each month!

Let's compare that to the 2022 numbers for each month:

December 2022: 45

2022 Total Improvements & Bug Fixes: 518

The average in 2022 was 43.16 bugs / improvements a month. So we're trending upwards, which is great.

Let's look at bugs logged versus resolved in 2023, which was the first year we used our new Kaiju bug tracking system, instead of the Jira based Gojira:

Bugs Logged / Resolved in 2023

Resolved for 2023: 592

Unresolved for 2023: 143

As you can see we crushed through bugs this year. Having the bug database in the MOO makes it a lot more visible to both players and staff, and keeps it more top of mind. I think it's fair to say that 2023 was a year of massive bug fixes! This is as intended. I pushed bug fixes as a primary focus this year because playing a stable and bug free game is important for fairness and immersion. We resolved a number of highly annoying bugs this year, some of which were breaking entire features of the game and making certain character types very difficult to play.

That's not to say we didn't add new features though. Here are some highlights and notable updates from 2023:

Summary & Thanks

All in all I'm really pleased with the efforts everyone has put in this year from a coding and feature update perspective and I hope you are too. Thank you to everyone who contributed by submitting bugs, helping us test and resolve changes (time consuming and boring when you are a player), to the coders (Neon, Kard, Johnny) and coder adjacent team members that are dangerous enough to get in there and resolve some bugs and typos in the code (Mench), to the builders (Butako, Mac), and of course to all the GMs!

2023 was a great year for the game, and I'm looking forward to seeing what 2024 brings!
