Smoke grenades
Smoke down! GOGOGO!

A grenade item that will temporarily fill the room with a heavy smoke that makes the difficult to see (unless you're rocking thermos/high perc/etc) people and objects in the room.

It would have a timer on it, so right after explosion the difficulty to see would be extremely high, then maybe on a 1 minute ticker it would slowly get easier to see maybe every ten seconds?

This would have a ton of fun uses from simple pranks to high stakes smash and grabs to sneaky PvP action.

This idea has been posted a few times including by yourself five years ago. I think it's a great idea though!

Yeah, one or two of these are old ideas of mine that didn't gain any traction but I really feel strongly could add a lot of fun to the game.
I think this and a fee other things like the warning shot thread and the "trust execution" idea would all be good ideas to package together in sort of a 'Combat Enhancements'. Since they are things that could generally enhance or change combat dynamics but are not direct *damaging*.
It would be fun to have more “distraction”/non-damaging grenades and for those items to be more accessible.

I think the ability for explosive experts to make drug grenades from drugs objects would be extremely interesting and perhaps flip the custom drug development loop on its head a bit.
Adding more craftables and therefore usage to the Explosives skill overall could only be beneficial, I think.

Drug grenades for sure, but I also really like this idea for smoke bombs or something similar. More utility means more roleplay-creating tools at peoples' disposal.
