Robotics

Robots and drones are a familiar sight throughout Withmore City. Aerial drones pass overhead, autonomous maintenance bots work the streets, and both autonomous and directly controlled machines patrol secure locations. Foam-spraying drones help fight fires.

The most advanced robotics remain in corporate hands, but simpler equipment has become affordable enough for some less affluent residents to use robotic tools in their working lives. Robotics serves ordinary maintenance and industrial labor as well as security.

Riggers and Machines

Human robot operators are commonly called riggers. Their machines can undertake work too dangerous or strenuous for a person, and come in many shapes and sizes. Aerial drones need not resemble people: some are built around a functional body, flight stabilizers, and thrusters.

A Robot Control Unit, or RCU, provides a network link through which a rigger directs a machine. Robots combine power supplies with operational components suited to their tasks. Their parts and chassis can be repaired, and machines can be assembled, dismantled, or upgraded with appropriate tools and expertise.

Industry and Trade

The PRI Robotics Factory is a major industrial presence in San Mayo. Retail businesses also serve the trade: Sebastian Robotics is among the establishments in Planetary Outlets on Skywatch Lane.
