The Arteries, often called the Arts, are one of the three major street gangs of central Red Sector. They claim territory south of Fuller Street, with Ashlin Street at the heart of their turf. Their boundaries shift with the fortunes of street warfare, making precise territorial lines unreliable.
Of Central Red's major gangs, the Arteries have a reputation as the most business-oriented. Their leader is Lubosh.
Artery territory stretches across the southern neighborhoods of central Red, including the Gulag and Chinatown. Ashlin is the center of their street presence, and their graffiti leaves little doubt about who claims the pavement.
Their control of the streets exists alongside the influence of larger criminal organizations. In Chinatown, the Arts control much of the street-level criminal business, while the Triads are believed to hold sway over more substantial enterprises. In the Gulag, the Arteries run the streets, while the Bratva allegedly controls much of the neighborhood's crime and business.
The Arts' interest in business goes hand in hand with a willingness to fight for territory. They have longstanding rivalries with the Sinners and the Snakes, and confrontations between the gangs repeatedly spill into the streets.
Challenges to Artery turf can draw a collective response. Shouts of "ART TURF!" and tags declaring "HERE BE ARTERIES" advertise the gang's claim, while hostile graffiti makes its feelings toward rival gangs equally clear.
The Arteries are associated with red, the number 4, and money-related imagery. The stylized name "Fla$hlin" combines their attachment to Ashlin Street with their reputation for chasing money. These symbols appear in gang clothing and graffiti.
