Linux MOO clients

Hrm. In the search for a good MOO-client that runs on the Linux platform, Rastus and I found about three open-source clients that might be worth mentioning– kmud, Tiny Fugue, and GMOO.

kmudhttp://www.kmud.de/– Very nice feature-loaded client application that runs under the K-Desktop environment. Has all the bells and whistles one could ask for in a client-- comparable to zmud, but free.

Tiny Fuguehttp://tf.tcp.com/~hawkeye/tf/– A multi-platform MUD client, its source code was originally developed for Unix, but long has since been ported to Linux, OS/2, MacOS, Win32, and several other platforms. Though not as pretty as kmud (it runs through a terminal interface), TF is one workhorse of a client, supporting multiple windows, ANSI color, script- based world connects, and a whole host of other capabilities.

GMOOhttp://www.nowmoo.demon.nl/– This is the first client I discovered. Frankly, it looks nice, has a bunch of features and such, but installation can be incredibly tricky. Fact is, I've been unable to properly compile this proggy, despite the fact that I've followed instructions to the letter. If anyone can properly install GMOO, and would be willing to give a thorough explanation, please drop me a line on the MOO ;) .

Also an alternative to the above clients, the Java client linked to the Sindome website works perfectly well in Linux; and when in doubt, the old Telnet stand-in works, too.

wow!

Great reviews Grim.

Add a little more info and we can create a full webpage for clients.

Hrm. Any specific info you want, J-man? I'll set about working on it, since I'm not going to bed tonight and have maybe three hours before I need to wake up.
We'll, might as well expand the reviews for each one, much like ZDnet does for stuff. Short paragraph about each one, Pros/Cons, give them ratings for ease of use, etc.

Hell, we could expand this to cover the other clients out there. Would make a nice page for the site, 7 or 8 reviews of clients for various OSes.

Okies. I have obtained some additional information for each of the above Linux M** clients that you folks might find interesting:

Kmud

Screenshots- (Unavailable until further notice)

General Features- macros, triggers, aliases, history, logging, character profiles/connection wizard, auto-login, MCCP support, ANSI/VT100 support

Goodies- split screen in history scrollback, numpad walking, speed walking, automapper, programmable toolbar, auto- reconnect, optional plug-ins, Customizable background/foreground colors

Pros- Lots of extras, graphical interface, various binary/source distributions in RPM and GZip format, user-friendly

Cons- Won't work if you have the wrong versions of Qt and KDE, ANSI color can get wonkey, lack of file libraries increases file size dramatically

Pros- Very powerful, stable, hardcore client with lots of extra options to work through, cross-platform development, etc.

Cons- Very powerful, stable, hardcore client with lots of extra options to work through , command line interface, lots of commands to learn (definitely not a beginner's M** client)
