Just a couple questions

Just a couple things I been wondering but that aren't all that important right now, I figure I should ask 'em all at once to save you guys time later (hehe)

Is there a skill-cap or a sort of skill-priority system whereas skills purchased later take more UE to raise or are there learning difficulty ratings to different skills, making certain skills harder to raise?

Is there a stat cap?

Regarding Secure Tech, apart knowledge of security systems, does the skill give one knowledge on how to bypass them or is that exclusively for the thievery skill?

Is it possible to rent more than one cube at a time?
What happens when all the cubes are rented?

When vehicles are implemented, will the drive skill be necessary for regular, tame driving or just for maneuvers
and speeding?

Is it possible to do an action, like taking something out of a pocket or whatnot, without everyone in the room seeing?

If a tree feel on a mime in the woods, would anyone care?

Please respond to these at your leisure, and thank you.

Now then… let's see here.

Skills gradually take more UE as you get higher levels in that skill. Once you hit a certain point it won't cost .5 UE, it will cost more and continue to cost more as you raise that skill. Same thing for stats. There is a cap on skills and stats, but it'll be a long time before any of you hit it.

SecureTech would give you that knowledge about security systems. Although most of that is still in the process of being coded.

You can rent as many cubes/apartments as you like or can afford. When they're all rented... that's it. You're out of luck.

The driving skill will be necessary to use them.. Rastus can probably explain more. But yes you will need it to drive regularly, unless something's been changed.

No, you can't take out something without it being seen at the moment.

Nobody likes mimes.

Hrm, interesting idea for the holding objects though… kind of a sneak like idea... I like it
Well I was askin' cos we've all seen people do it in the movies and TV shows - usually close-ups on the hand moving in the pocket or folds of a coat and then BAM, the guy does something dramatic with whatever he pulled out.

Anyway, another question, can you rent more than one cube in the same hotel?
And if so, how?
And are the lockers at the New Rose rentable?
And if so, how?

You know, if people keep asking questions here this is gonna be a potentially very useful post, hehe.

Since FS prompted, the simple answer is "Yes, you do need drive skill to do -any- driving."

A very low level of drive skill would be sufficient to do steady or slow driving (perhaps with the occasional stall, but hey), but the fact is that not having a skill reflects you having no knowledge/ability whatsoever in the given field. Someone with 0 drive skill is assumed to know -nothing- about vehicles. Such a person would have a hard time knowing how to make a vehicle go forward, no matter how obvious that may seem to those of you who do know the simplest thing about driving. This is why I find it -very- entertaining to see characters with -two- skills, brawling and dodge, or martial arts and dodge, etc. In real terms, these people are -complete- misfits. They don't know -anything- about anything except swinging a fist… and then they RP themselves as ex-SAS or some such... Yeah, okay, ex-SAS who don't even know how to load -any- firearm, let alone point it in the right direction or have any chance of being a threat to anyone but themselves with it.

Be warned people, when a statistically unbalanced character applies for an IC job we -will- take this into account. No more WJF employees with zero law and minimal intelligence. The WJF wouldn't hire these people to clean Judge boots, let alone patrol the streets with a loaded weapon.

Anyhow, I tangent, as usual...

FS answered the rest.

It's come to my attention that you can't in fact rent more than one cube at a time. So disregard my statement in the previous post about being able to. You can, however, rent as many apartments as you like.

The lockers at New Rose are rentable.. or were last I checked. I'm sure they have some serious code problems and need fixing though.

Yeah…lockers need some work. And last I checked, New Rose was full up...

NPT has lockers, perhaps Habitat-X needs some lockers.

Another question - what are those chips that are sold at the bank? like ATM cards?
Debit cards.
Another one!

Regarding combat this time!

WHEE!

Does it make a difference whether I manage to shoot someone through the shin or the neck?
I'm assuming it does, but I'm curious.

Also, is it possible to target a specific body part? (to quote Fallout 2: "A kick in the eyes!!")

Thirdly, on an Enforcer, what's the difference between Rifle mode and pistol mode, apart the caliber?

Also, I heard something about dual wielding of weapons on a post in general, is this possible with handguns? (hmmm, Judge Tequila, anyone?)

Whee combat!

Hit location does modify damage somewhat. A head hit has a good chance of doing more damage than a hit by the same weapon to the foot. However, location isn't the only factor to take into account so don't count on it. The severity of your hit, wether it was a critical hit and how much armor is on the location will all make a big difference too. A glancing blow to the head of someone wearing a helmet is going to do less damage than you planting your sledgehammer full force onto the same persons bare foot.

Location aiming is available as an extension of aim.
'aim at <person>'
'aim at <person>'s <location>'
This still needs work tho, so bear with me on it. I plan to add a verb that will let you see a list of the possible locations on the target. You will be able to aim at all objects, not just players and if the target object has multiple locations, you will be able to choose which to aim for.
Location aiming slightly reduces your chance of hitting but applies a multiplier to the chance of hitting the chosen location -if- you hit. The size/vulnerability of a location also effects the chance of you hitting it, aimed or not. Some attacks on some weapons can only hit certain locations.

Enforcer - Rifle uses rifle skill, pistol uses pistol skill. Other than that, they're currently identical simply because they're still kinda incomplete.

There is a version of dual wield currently in play, but it's something I want to extensively modify. At the moment if you hold two weapons you will switch weapon after each attack. If you dual wield two melee weapons you'll get a slight bonus to parry. Beside the parry bonus the only real use for it at the moment is posing and, in the case of pistols, doubling the number of rounds you can get off before having to reload. I -may- add a system to allow dual pistols to be fired simultaneously. Other than that, I plan to remove the weapon change after each attack and replace it with a system where you manually switch weapons. Your primary weapon will be the one used to attack, secondary weapon will be a parrying weapon (melee) or simply available (posing again). Perhaps in kamikaze posture I'll allow simultaneous attacks with dual melee weapons.

Either way, dual wield is likely to require weapon specialization or a possible ambidextrous advantage, so it won't be open to everyone.

Another question!

I'd like to know what the 'middle' level of skills is - the descriptive, not the numbers, because without a reference the ratings don't really mean anything except "Better than nothing" which is very, very broad. So, if it's not a problem, I'd like to know the middle level (which is to say, if the skill went from 1-10, what would be the "5"…ah, but I over-explain, bah)

Think of skills like you would in real life. Halfway would probably be about average…. skilled would be pretty good. And so on... the words actually match skill level now, Ras changed it a while ago.
Alrighty about the WSB shocker chips,  do you have to have a Buisness account to use them?  And if so what criteria have to be met to open a buisness account?  Forgive me if this was answered in a previous thread, (i havent gotten around to reading all the posts), If you could answer this or point me in the direction of the thread that does id be appreciative.
Dual weilding is the shit, but its only worthwhile if you have Astro like stats. MUHAHAHAHA.  I would guess that the difference between pistol and rifle mode is what skill it draws from.  and since I am Astro DIE WJF, DIE
Ty has a shocker chip and no business account.  The only way I've successfully used it is for transferring money from player to player. As far as I know, it doesn't work for shops and NPC's.  Someone let me know if there -is- actually a way to charge to your card from a shop.  It'd save me trips to the bank.
Nope, there is not.
