@rewind for SIC and away messages.

I remember at the townhall, I think they were talking of smallworlding on SIC but were talking a bit about the meta behind SIC... Whether we're online for 1 or 10 hrs a day, it's assumed our Chars are paying attention, even when we arent whether we the Player are or arent.

I think there should be a period in the day, perhaps auto from our last connection, perhaps chosen OR otherwise, where we can choose to @rewind SIC, so we the player, are in the know as to -some- of what we may have missed...

I also have an idea for a SIC messaging system sort of like a voicemail nowadays, where maybe we set some generic message that is said to someone trying to get in touch with us, something vague, and personalized like 'Yo im busy right now but I'll try and get back to you on that.'

The system could be pay-per, and subject of course to blackouts and the standard mishandling by the powers that be...

Anyways those are just some of the ideas I got thinking on the discussion about SIC at the Townhall and want to see what anyone else thinks...

The SIC network is also pretty sensitive to connection issues causing problems, and there was actually just a bit of discussion going on XOOC about time investment and FOMO. Some way to access IC logs for SIC chatter could be a real asset to casual players.
Yes I was thinking also, as someone who can have a fairly erratic SD play-schedule, of all the people such as myself who'd benefit from something which helps them recall at least some of the SIC chatter. whether we choose it, or it's somehow automated..

It makes sense, ICly, that even when we aren't online, we can assume to be going about our days quietly, ambiently, you might say, and interacting as such... and got me wondering OOCly, about how such a system could work ICly.

As said, I foresee our characters, in said periods if we arent and don't have much of a tendency to idle (a personal bad habit), we could set some @SIC-option or perhaps set-it under the @Look_Place Umbrella; @lp, @tp, @sp and a fourth @SICp...I mention this last because though of course if we aren't online, we don't show up in the @who/player-count, but would still show up ICly in the WHO list, with our custom @SICp message to indicate that we're (probably) away (which could also be used as tool for IC trickery), and of course -would- be notified of any talk on our Private Keys (provided we have Sicnal at such times).

And also, I see an opportunity for some Away 'CC' private messaging service, but that's probably it's own post at this point, for another day, unless someone more qualified and experienced than I wants to weigh/tie-it in to the Idea....

Ahh lag... well, now I know the virtue of Bgbb patience..

I forgot to add though of course we dont show up Icly on the count, we would show-up in said away periods, if we chose, or were automated to, in those early, early morning quiet period where even the WHO list is looking a little scant, just to keep the IC world looking just that more awake at that time..

I recognize the desire for these features but couldn't a lot of this be accomplished by using the grid?
