Corkboards that you can pin photos to, then additional verbs on the corkboard that let you pin something to two -- or more? -- photos and connect them with different colored pieces of string. Maybe let you X out photos with markers, or circle them, etc, etc.

That works great IRL but how would you describe that in a visually compelling and useful way that lets you comprehend all the links?
