Embed basic actions within emotes/poses
sit/stand/eat/drink/smoke/etc as you emote and pose!

The (minor) problem: Often times in roleplay, someone will include a coded action such as sitting down, standing, eating, or drinking in an emote or pose and then will have to perform that actual action through coded means. For instance:

.walk through the crowd, up to the bar, and .nod to Bartender while taking a seat.

sit bar

While there's no issue with this really, it can become a bit spammy.

The solution: In order to make these types of actions a bit more fluid, I suggest adding the ability to embed basic actions into poses and/or emotes. This would reduce output spam and lead to more "clean" RP. It may also help cut down on the number of instances where someone emotes taking a drink or a drag off a cigarette but doesn't actually perform the coded action.

An example of what this might look like is:

.walk through the crowd, up to the bar, and .nod to Bartender while taking a seat. {sit bar}

While not a life changing suggestion, I feel that this would add just that bit more quality to RP.

the only problem I could see is how easy it might be to cheat doing something like

".wave at bob with a smile {throw pipebomb north}"

Agreed, @Phexion. This is why I feel as though it should be limited to basic "slice of life" RP commands such as sit, stand, eat, drink, and smoke. In other words, the commands used in social RP.

More impactful commands like the one you describe or that have significant coded effects should not be included in the system.

The way I've seen this done in MUDs that have it is that only certain actions were able to be tied to the emote (like drop/give/remove/wear).

SD seems to shy away from adding there kinds of complexities that I've seen, as much as it'd be cool to have.

This is a cool idea, but I don't think we will implement it. Would likely be prone to bugs, and pose is already complex enough for most people that I see a lot of people using emote. We can just use the coded systems we have. Nothing wrong with posing a cool sit/stand message and then doing the actual action. People know what it means, and roll with it.
