I really like the new SQL(?) system that is being used for the PRI e-note 7s. I was thinking…why not make a Progia-13 that uses the same thing?

The Progia-13 would be the ultimate corpie phone, and at proper price (around 60~Kc), capable of the normal Progia-11 tasks, as well as having a camera, note functionality, and grid accessibility similar to a term.

Why not? At this point there should be some equivalent to real-life's smartphones. Smartphones may not have come up in Sindome's universe but that doesn't mean there won't be people asking 'hey, why can't I use my phone like a computer?'.

I believe the game design largely goes against all-in-one items but I certainly understand the appeal.

At the same time haven't seen the new e-note system yet so I can't really imagine what it is exactly but uh, if you wanted something all-powerful like that maybe it would be 100+ kay or something. Whatever, you know? Price balances it out. Also maybe you wouldn't be able to deck with phones, or get a major penalty to hacking or whatever.

No decking sounds fine. I'm thinking just very basic grid functionality, like checking your mail or posting on the forums, basically a street term.

A high price point would be fine, too.

I think this might allow corpies to play it too safe. They already likely have cars or aeros if they're not juniors (or should be shamed relentlessly for being cheap), so walking around with all your cool stuff should feel risky. But if you have an all in one, just carry the thing around and you're likely not to lose anything ever. Pass :P

To reply to Papertiger, I think you don't understand how this would allow corpies to play it too safe. They still have to have their phone on them, they still have to have a quickterm on them, they still have to have an e-note on them as of current. A Progia-13 just turns this into one item and arguably makes it eaiser on dips.

Convenience over how easy it is for someone to steal your expensive item.

Carrying it might foil dips, but there are other types of robbers who wouldn't be deterred at all - on the contrary, it makes you a mark.

This can work for cheap items to some extent but only because they're cheap.

So I get that a dip would likely target the 13, but if someone just holds it, itd be a heckin ton harder for them. If you couldn't hold it at all and had to keep it in your pocket (for some ic reason that could likely be bullshitted), I think itd be great. Maybe I'm overthinking it. This is possible. And maybe people would attack someone on Gold over it? But it just feels like it'd make people safer and dips less able to farm terms or progias because typically not both are pulled out at once.
