Random jobs

Yeah, more coding, see the dislaimers opon previous posts.

I think it would be really cool if someone (NPC) walked up to a PC and said ..

"Hey, I got this guy I need to get this package to .. he's dressed like a zebra goat ninja. You get him the package and I'll pay you for it"

Doesn't have to be a lot, could be just a random occurence, initiated by the NPC as you walk by them.

There could be several different types ..

A bookie - you have to deliver (hmmm, or collect) chyen from the PC.

A fixer type - deliver some object (maybe if a store were out of an item you could put it 'on order' and this is how it gets delivered.

A warrant server - Delivering notices for WJF

A drug dealer - Gotta deliver that vial of V or whatever.

Or maybe it could just be a worthless object that get's recycled as soon as the player who recieves it, gets it.

When the transaction is complete, a few hundred chyen (or whatever) get transferred.

Maybe even the PC who is supposed to recieve the item gets a NLM mail (from the bookie) saying "Your chyen is on the way, look for a tall, dark, stupid looking fellow."

Lots of possibilities with this.

Again, this idea rocks. There should be more ways than just Bruce and SHI for people to make money - yes I can hear the admin saying it now, "Find jobs from other players." But the reality is not that many players can afford to pay other players for even running to buy a pack of smokes from them. They're too fixated on buying guns and ammo and replacing clones and lost Xo3 suits.

This could be a totally random way to make unexpected money and a way to better introduce the ambient population.

I've got an idea some what along the lines of yours Max, but maybe a little more planned.  It's kind of a way to make a lot of jobs and conflict with a little help from the admins.  Basically, a simple job that can have tons of different sides involved.  For example, someone wants a certain item stolen from a corporation.  So, you have an op team that goes and breaks into the corporation's R&D and steals the object.  They then go and find their contact at a bar or something during the next day or two.  While they're waiting to get the item to their contact, the corp has put together an op team to get the item back.  Then add a third party who is gunning to steal the item from the original thieves for their own reasons.  And what if some random person mugs the person holding the item until they give it to the contact, maybe some mention the the item looks expensive to anyone who sees it could encourage this.  So, if you figure just the three main parties each hires an op team of 3, that's 9 jobs filled by people who want to get the item so they can get paid.
Then, you get into the idea of what the item is and why it was stolen.  Maybe a state of the art deck to crack the cities bank accounts or some bioweapon to be unleashed on those fucking corpies up on blue.  This means there will be a need for people who can try to stop the plan as well as people to serve as muscle for the bad guy (or the bad guy themself).  A single job, if done right could involve just about anyone who wants to be.
Also, the idea of bartender, people who can overhear all kinds of thing.  Maybe you can walk into the drome and ask Rychek about any recent rumors, and there a charisma role to see if he's forthcoming with a little hint that this person or group or corporation is looking for some ops and have each bartender at each different bar giving out a different rumor about a different side of the job.
HIron I'm not in the moo to read all that, but I think I got an idea what it's about.  And I think I'll agree.

Not that nothing is planned, and I know what  you'll all say, but where is the Big Plots goin down. I mean one night of a big event (choppers, Devon, Blown up Green, Gangers, Snipers) will spark months of RP, I would know. I guess the last real big thingw as the SIC brownout, but thta lasted a week, before that was the sniper which was cool, but ended in march(?).

So what about like Big robbery or something.  An NPC approaches JOe Smoe and says we gotta job to do, worth 50 million, to be divided 10 ways, i needa this this and this, and it's your job to find 8 other guys to pull this off.  Not only does that put 9 PC's with a job, and lots of RP, the event they do will give everyone something to talk about for months to come.

Max, everything you listed has been discussed and basically planned. Just isn't -done- yet.
