UE/Learning/Doing

I was wondering, would it be a pain in the ass to code an addition to the UE system? For instance, If Rigby goes to the weight room, and lifts weights for an hour….assuming he -can- lift weights for an hour, would it be possible for him to get 1UE for that -specific- stat only?

So where it says

You have 5.01505 units of unassigned experience (UE)
You have 1.00000 units of Strength experience (SE)
You have 2.00000 units of Brawling experience (BE)

Maybe not go that far cause that would be a pain in the ass definatly, but maybe for the stats wouldn't be to hard.

Well it's just an Idea that I think could work. Let me know:)

Wouldn't that just be AE? :)

Is there AE yet?

No AE yet.
It would be AE.
No AE yet, but it is planned and has been in the pipeline since the UE system was coded.

Johnny and I have been debating the exact method of the system just recently. The one thing it will -not- be is a system where you can raise skills just by training/paying for training. This would just be abused to uber-boost stats and skills. What it's more likely to be is a system that will somehow alter the way you spend UE, thus restricting character advancement by the existing UE constraints.

AE will be earned and will be skill specific, so once you earn AE by using/training a skill, the AE will not be transferable/usable in any other skill. AE will most definately be capped such that you cannot earn more than x AE per skill at any given time. Johnny wants to implement a system where you type 'assign AE' and it shows you a list of skills you have AE in, at which point you can assign your available UE to those skills. I want to alter 'assign ue' such that it shows you all your skills with a '+' flag next to the skills you have available AE in, thus reducing the need for a second system to do what can be integrated into one existing system.

Both systems share common concepts for the results. If you assign a point of UE to a skill with available AE, the AE total for that skill will be reduced by one and your UE will be used to increase the skill by a slightly greater level than you would normally get for assigning a point of UE to the skill.

AE will more than likely fade. So, earning AE will only be good for a short while before you need to earn AE in that skill again. If you don't learn from your training soon after doing the training you'll need to do the 'study' again.

AE -may- be used in a player to player training system whereby player A will be able to school player B in the use of a given skill and 'transfer' AE, literally 'passing on your experience' as Iga put it. Player A will be required to be significantly more talented at the skill than player B in order to successfully teach anything and player A will need available AE to expend in the training process.

This is all concept at the moment, so don't hold me to any of it. But that's the vague gist of what is planned.

In the interest of player-to-player training, it could be neat to add a 'Teaching' skill, which would reflect the maximum of one's experience that one has the ability to pass on?
