Why not have a message telling people when someone starts heading towards an exit. Its not like they are going to just up and disappear. Something like: Ari moves towards the west.

Just adds a bit more feel to it.

Tsk tsk tsk... you should know better. Thats what Emotes are for! I for one always do an entrance emote and an exit emote most of the time. Unless i'm in a hurry, but then my characters state of urgency is normally noted in another Emote.  And isn't the current exit message something like %N makes %h way to the $l anyway?

Agreed, in most situations an emote will suffice.  if the world was perfect, emotes would always suffice.  Even when your in a hurry.  And if you're in a hurry you can always use the 'charge (direction)' command.  That way when you enter the next room, it's -like- an entrance pose.
