I'm only through about seven of them so far, but I'd love a new one on social issues would be much appreciated.
A few bullet points…
- why and how racism, sexism, misogyny, homophobia and their ilk have become practically nonexistent in this setting.
- Equality of women. No PMS jokes because endometriosis et al are non-existent due to modern medicine. Muscle grafts, nanos, and modern medicine make testosterone practically insignificant in the long run. There are so many women in power in-game. Sindome not only passes the Bechdel Test, it blows it out of the water.
- Sex & gender with a focus on non-binary individuals and dissecting the coded reasons behind what has been set so far. (More enby mementos pls!)
- In-game medical reasoning for binary transpeople. I had an internet friend get really upset at the "What is your sex?" question and practically quit right there. I explained that modern medicine is effective enough that their character would have finished transition by, like, 10 years of age, with whatever sex characteristics they desired. I feel like this point needs to be more well-known.
- Sterility of characters. In-game reasons as well as OOC reasons why having children is just a bad idea for RP. (And don't make babies as props. 😂)
- Prevalence of STIs and other infections and how they play into the theme of Sindome.
- A rough guide on how to play to your stats without revealing adjective levels aside from "Ordinary." And comparing Ordinary to the ambient population. A lot of folks starting off (myself included) appear to assume that 1-2 adjective raises means you're an ace. The actual mechanics behind everything are FOIC and there are ways to test how you square up, but for actual roleplaying to your stats it can be a big mystery to most people.
For example, looking around the bgbb I found things like…
"Strength below Ordinary means you have practically no muscle tone and shouldn't be handling more than food and drinks. Once you reach Ordinary, you're capable of lifting what a barista might have to handle on a daily basis. Raise your adjective four steps, and now you can do regular warehouse lifting duties. Note that parcel services are special and should not be an accurate judge of weight. (I always assumed the crates had little hoverwheels, and you had to push them around with both hands to get them to their destination.) Raise it four more times, and you can look noticeably toned and muscular in your @nakeds."
"Intelligence below Ordinary means your character will consistently be forgetful and make bad decisions. Once you reach Ordinary, your character knows only the most basic overviews of tech and has to write a lot of things down. Say you forgot. Don't immediately recognize that voice over the phone if you haven't talked in over a week. Raise Intelligence four adjectives and your character shows decent judgment and ability to memorize. Raise it four more and you know a good deal of stuff and can reasonably use your backbuffer to have your character recall minutiae of details."
"Charisma below Ordinary means your character is a hideous homunculus who nobody wants to deal with. Raise it to Ordinary and you've graduated to being an ogre. Four steps up means your character is likely grooming themself on a regular basis, resembling a clean human being, and getting along with others decently. Four more steps up and you can start to turn heads with gorgeous @nakeds and expect that most people will enjoy working with you."
"Endurance below Ordinary means your character could feel winded after a one-minute jog. Raise it to Ordinary and you'll just feel sluggish most of the time. Four steps up and you can reasonably act like you worked an eight-hour shift on your feet and could maybe do two more. Four more than that and your character can wake up energized often, ready to take on the day."
"Perception below Ordinary blah blah, Agility and Luck too."
(I don't know how accurate I am with these so take these as mere suggestion. Apologies in advance if this is saying too much.)
I'll keep listening and coming up with stuff. The volume with a lot of these fluctuates wildly. Music is super loud compared to voices, etc. but I'm dealing with it. 😅
