Bar-Bee-Que - MOO bash?

So.

Johnny's booking a ticket.
Bixby's booked time off.
Kevlar is looking into it.
Bias is out of town at the moment, but lives here.
Purity lives in town.

In the last hour or so it appears that a MOObash has developed out of my need to have a house-warming party (a year after I've moved in), a gathering of my friends, and a small hurricane in Florida.

So.

MOO-Bash at my place.

Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Time: September 24th to 27th, 2004

I think all my space is filled. (I've got a bed and 2 couches…) But there are a few MOOers in town, and a lot of hotels. If you can make it, post or email me. We'll figure out more details as we go.

One event that will happen for sure is a trip to the Calgary Science Centre. I think Calaway park may still be open as well. And there is the Zoo, and Fort Calgary, and Heritage Park, and Banff...and bars...and I've got a bitchin back yard and a small Barbeque that will work lovely. I may even have a mohawk again by that time.

Anyone thinking of flying in should have at least a birth certificate. Other ID will be OK in most cases, but I know the birth certificate thing works personally. :)
passport?
If you are coming from the United States of America you will need:

A birth certificate or passport. either or should do you. aparently a baptismal certificate works as well. A passport is faster, to be sure. But a Birth Certificate and 2 peices of picture ID works as well.

If you are coming from outside the USA, you will need a passport.

What does that have to do with a small hurricane in Florida?

Speaking of which… I went there a month ago for a wedding. The church the wedding was at is now gone... and the mall and movie theatre I went to visit is now conveniently located across the street... ahem... Bad!

Jman had plans to go to Florida for his vacation this year. But since Florida is an utter mess, and it is barely half way through Hurricane season, he's decided it may be a bad place to visit.

:)

a batipsmal certificate?? like, the one i got from church? when i was baptized? weird.
Yeah I guess if your ok in God's eyes (eye?) your ok to get into canada.
I say we live on edge…

Lets go surfing in Florida, all of us!!! Right smack dab in the middle of the hurricane's  fiercest point. Talk about waves...

:will be sad for the next week because he'd love to hang wit all of you guys, but there's that "not allowed in canada" thing…...
yeah, apparently they work as boarder ID…here, I'll get you all a link:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/index.html

Right of the government web site...

)edited to put in correct link(

He's being distracted by his porn…

Johnny, turn your camera off!!!

Here is a clearer statement of what Americans specifically need:

http://travel.state.gov/travel/tips_canada.html

Sounds like fun, whats the weather in canda like in late september?
Calgary will be warm during the day, cool to cold at night. September is one of the hottest months here.

Average high: 17.0 C
Average low:    4.0 C

It is not unusuall for it to get to 25-30 C in September, though at the tail end of the month this is unlikely. It will be autumnal is my guess.

Uhm.. we had a frost warning a week or two ago. *coughs*
We have frost warnings all summer.

:)

umm… for all those americans you're inviting to calgary can we get that in degrees Far... far... farenheit?

*sighs*

17 degree Celsius = 62.6 degree Fahrenheit

*cries* I feel soo alone down here… :(

Canada is like on the northen emisphere and I'm on the southern... sooo... it's like not the cheapest of things...

:(

It's only about 10000 kilometres!
Quote: from Iga on 1:43 pm on Aug. 19, 2004[br]It's only about 10000 kilometres!

If I start walking about now I should get there in like 3 years… not a good idea.

But I demand pics! lots of them...

Yeah! I'm gonna be there! Yeah! Gonna get on a plane for the first time in this lifetime to get there! Yeah!  So let's see, no guns, knives, box cutters, pencils, pens, pocket gnomes, gremlins, pics of people wearing turbans, and…um. whatever else will cause a state of national emergency by me trying to get on a plane with it.
"Its never..  -your- dildo..  but..  -a- dildo."
no knitting needles.

I know you really wanted to work on that hand-knitted flamethrower during the flight.

(Oddly enough, nobody's clued into the fact that keys, plastic utensiles, and even thumbs can be used to kill someone and hijack a plane.)

Give me this plane or I'll bite the stewartess to death!! Arrrr!
They'll laugh until you do it. then you'll be on CNN!
Then they'll start forcing people to remove their teeth before flights!

Security guard:  I'm sorry sir, but we have to confiscate those.  *punches you in the face*

I really need to stop talking about how you can kill people on planes.

They'll start banning all ninjas and ninjas-in-training from flights.

Not that it matters. We can fly anyhow.

Yes. Florida is so cool. Not.

Spent the last week doing water extractions in condos thanks to that fucking bastard charley.

71 condos. Made around 8k though.

Yes. Moved out of that shit hole just in time.
Florida will be underwater by the end of the century anyhow.
Kevlar and myself will be arriving at the Calgary airport on Friday the 24th of Sept around 2PM.

We'll be flying out the following Thursday (sept 30th) around 8PM.

Hope to see all who can make it - its gonna be a blast of a bash!

I wish I could come.  But I don't fly.  Negative flying.  I hate it! ARGARGARGAGRAFg.

I think the train would take atleast a week.

Awww, it's just a lil bitty areoplane…
Sorry boys…between classes and my new job, no way I could come due to time and financial reasons.

Have fun though.

Ha! Johnny Kevlar and myself are on the same flight out of calgary! *cackles* Yeah, hope to see everyone and anyone who can make it, I'll be arriving in Calgary shortly after Johnny and Kev, sometime around 2:30 I belive, after a short layover in Phoenix,  yea that's right I'm flying from Chicago, down to Phoenix and the back up to Calgary go figure.
what did that ticket cost, like 50 cents?
We aren't all high rollers like you Jotun, some of us have to work for a living, not mooch off daddies trust fund.

*cackles*

;)

Yeah right, daddy laughs at me when I ask him for money.  I've worked  from the time I was 14 until just over a year ago (shortly after I turned 26) when I realized I could afford to live off of my GI bill while I finished college.  Which will hopefully be done this spring.

Yes I know(or at least hope) you meant no offense, but I (probibaly like you)  hate people that throw it up in my face that they have a expensive car/house/watch/whatever but have never worked a day in their frickin life.

Dude, read your own disclaimer.

:P

I'm not whining, just hoping nobody (read:YOU) has the wrong idea about me.

It's snowing in the mountains. *sings* It's snowing in the mountains!

Mmmm … snow.
He who never saw snow, never touched any snow, please raise your hand.

*raises hand*

I have even traveled to see some snow on my last vacation, but did I see it? Noooo, it decided to show up late this year… :(

The first time I saw snow was in like…98 I think. We had to make a road trip to WV, where my grandparents live, cuase of that whole State wide forest fire deal...
It's almost time! It's almost time!
*runs around wildly flailing his arms and giggling*
5 more days 5 more days
Yay!
Our collection of photos (in progress)
Cool!!!!
none of you guys got arrested or chased by the fuzz? Some party…
The one thats like 'This is what if feels like to be a GM..'

Priceless.

Who invited RMS to that party?
You motherfuckers!  I have to go to the next one…

I HAVE TO!

Or you all will face my wall-scaling ninja wrath.

I'd like to see you try that.
I belive he has the video.
*whiiiiine* You played DDR without me?!?!?!
That's it…I quit.....that went right to the heart....

*sobs*

I would've rather seen Iga and Johnny do the DDR thing.

And then beat up kevlar and Bixby afterwards!  ARRR!!

Marines and Ninjas vs. skinny guys.

Ann is a coconut snarfer.
Actually, I think at one point there was streaming video of myself and Johnny both on the dance pads.

His military march technique is unbeatable!

My Dance Dance Revolution will NOT be televised!

I would personally like to thank Iga for his exceptional hospitality. I had an outstanding time in Calgary and he had a lot to do with seeing that we all did. :)

I'll be setting up a web page with all the photos and movies from the bash after I finish thawing out.

My Dance Dance Revolution will NOT be televised!

What he's not telling you is he had quite the knack for it. Appearantly being trained to march in time to a cadance directly translates into the DDR skill, whatever that is (it's part line-dancing, part mind-foot coordination).

Thoes who were there allready know, but everyone involved deserves a medal for their effort, coordination, paitence, tollerance, understanding, easy-going fun-having it's-all-good-because-karma-provides attitude, and being true friends. Especially Iga, who's house he re-wired just so we could get online while still being social despite the fact that he has no use for it himself and who was the model of gracious and fun while we completely trashed his house, drug him all over town, and kept him up until all hours of the night; Not only an immencely tallented person, but a very genuine and warm friend. And Johnny, without whom this could never have happened. Thank you all, very much. You've gone above and beyond.

Calgary's a beatiful area, and I allready miss it, and watching the free-flow of ideas when 5 (yes, count them 5) of the admin all get into the same room and start MOOTalking.

A time that won't soon be forgotten.

-Kevlar

Don't forget the brownies that Kev and I tag teamed on… here is the recipy should anyone else wish to make them:

Triple Chocolate K.O. Brownies

1 1/3 cup flour
2 cups sugar
1 cup butter (or Crisco!)
1 cup cocoa powder
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
4 eggs, beaten
1/2 oz 'special' spice

1 cup chopped nuts (optional for those who get hives and die)
1 Dark Roast Cadbury's Large Chocolate Bar, finely chopped
1/2 Dairy Milk Cadbury's Large Chocolate Bar, finely chopped
1/2 cup white milk chocolate chips

Step 1 - In a double boiler melt the butter or crisco over medium-high heat. When shortning is fully melted add the special spice and let warm over heat for 60 minutes. Drain over strainer, pressing left-overs to get all of the oil free. Place back over warm double boiler on a medium low heat.

Step 2 - Mix salt, baking powder, and salt in small bowl. Set to one side.

Step 3 - Blend cocoa into melted oil. Blend in the sugar and vanilla over the double boiler. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Blend in the beaten eggs, stirring constantly.

Step 4 - Blend in dry ingrdients, chocolate chunks, and nuts, until you get a smooth thick batter. Pour batter into greased 13 x 9 x 2 inch rectangular baking dish.

Step 5 - Bake in preheated over for 30 - 35 minutes or until done, cool for 30 minutes.

Cut into small pieces, these babies apparently pack a whollop.

Now you got me hungry! :(
Coolness all around for the couple of hours that I got to meet up with you guys before I returned to my cave.
It now has window treatments and a brand new sun roof.

mmm special spice

He who controls the Spice, controls the universe!
All I have to say is you guys are lucky that I'm not allowed in Canada, because I would have taken you guys all to school in some DDR.

Sissies….

/lingering sarcasm from not participating

*sighs*..  I swear, I have to go next time.

I bet if I had some of your 'spice', I'd have no problem jumping onto the DDR mat.

Buaha.
