So.
Johnny's booking a ticket.
Bixby's booked time off.
Kevlar is looking into it.
Bias is out of town at the moment, but lives here.
Purity lives in town.
In the last hour or so it appears that a MOObash has developed out of my need to have a house-warming party (a year after I've moved in), a gathering of my friends, and a small hurricane in Florida.
So.
MOO-Bash at my place.Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Time: September 24th to 27th, 2004
I think all my space is filled. (I've got a bed and 2 couches…) But there are a few MOOers in town, and a lot of hotels. If you can make it, post or email me. We'll figure out more details as we go.
One event that will happen for sure is a trip to the Calgary Science Centre. I think Calaway park may still be open as well. And there is the Zoo, and Fort Calgary, and Heritage Park, and Banff...and bars...and I've got a bitchin back yard and a small Barbeque that will work lovely. I may even have a mohawk again by that time.

Anyone thinking of flying in should have at least a birth certificate. Other ID will be OK in most cases, but I know the birth certificate thing works personally. :)

If you are coming from the United States of America you will need:
A birth certificate or passport. either or should do you. aparently a baptismal certificate works as well. A passport is faster, to be sure. But a Birth Certificate and 2 peices of picture ID works as well.
If you are coming from outside the USA, you will need a passport.

What does that have to do with a small hurricane in Florida?
Speaking of which… I went there a month ago for a wedding. The church the wedding was at is now gone... and the mall and movie theatre I went to visit is now conveniently located across the street... ahem... Bad!

Jman had plans to go to Florida for his vacation this year. But since Florida is an utter mess, and it is barely half way through Hurricane season, he's decided it may be a bad place to visit.

Calgary will be warm during the day, cool to cold at night. September is one of the hottest months here.
Average high: 17.0 C
Average low: 4.0 C
It is not unusuall for it to get to 25-30 C in September, though at the tail end of the month this is unlikely. It will be autumnal is my guess.

I know you really wanted to work on that hand-knitted flamethrower during the flight.
(Oddly enough, nobody's clued into the fact that keys, plastic utensiles, and even thumbs can be used to kill someone and hijack a plane.)

My Dance Dance Revolution will NOT be televised!
What he's not telling you is he had quite the knack for it. Appearantly being trained to march in time to a cadance directly translates into the DDR skill, whatever that is (it's part line-dancing, part mind-foot coordination).
Thoes who were there allready know, but everyone involved deserves a medal for their effort, coordination, paitence, tollerance, understanding, easy-going fun-having it's-all-good-because-karma-provides attitude, and being true friends. Especially Iga, who's house he re-wired just so we could get online while still being social despite the fact that he has no use for it himself and who was the model of gracious and fun while we completely trashed his house, drug him all over town, and kept him up until all hours of the night; Not only an immencely tallented person, but a very genuine and warm friend. And Johnny, without whom this could never have happened. Thank you all, very much. You've gone above and beyond.
Calgary's a beatiful area, and I allready miss it, and watching the free-flow of ideas when 5 (yes, count them 5) of the admin all get into the same room and start MOOTalking.
A time that won't soon be forgotten.

Don't forget the brownies that Kev and I tag teamed on… here is the recipy should anyone else wish to make them:
Triple Chocolate K.O. Brownies
1 1/3 cup flour
2 cups sugar
1 cup butter (or Crisco!)
1 cup cocoa powder
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
4 eggs, beaten
1/2 oz 'special' spice
1 cup chopped nuts (optional for those who get hives and die)
1 Dark Roast Cadbury's Large Chocolate Bar, finely chopped
1/2 Dairy Milk Cadbury's Large Chocolate Bar, finely chopped
1/2 cup white milk chocolate chips
Step 1 - In a double boiler melt the butter or crisco over medium-high heat. When shortning is fully melted add the special spice and let warm over heat for 60 minutes. Drain over strainer, pressing left-overs to get all of the oil free. Place back over warm double boiler on a medium low heat.
Step 2 - Mix salt, baking powder, and salt in small bowl. Set to one side.
Step 3 - Blend cocoa into melted oil. Blend in the sugar and vanilla over the double boiler. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Blend in the beaten eggs, stirring constantly.
Step 4 - Blend in dry ingrdients, chocolate chunks, and nuts, until you get a smooth thick batter. Pour batter into greased 13 x 9 x 2 inch rectangular baking dish.
Step 5 - Bake in preheated over for 30 - 35 minutes or until done, cool for 30 minutes.
Cut into small pieces, these babies apparently pack a whollop.
