First off... is there an IC system to do it yet? Mail was the only way I knew of prior to the BBB...
Second, what kind of jobs are available currently? Anyone wanna take a shot at these?
That said… please consider your character. I'm sick of hearing "I want to work for x corporation as a nano-surgical, hacker, reporter, combat specialist, black-ops tactical technician." from players who's history designates them as a known criminal or who have -no- qualifications or experience in the field they're applying for. I mean seriously... look at your stats and think... Would you hire that person?

If it's in your char history, or fits your char, try and look for a need that is not filled. Or look for a novelty that's not filled. People pay for silly things.
I thought about selling Withmore Souvineer shirts for awhile. Made a few…never advertised em or anything.

Fun stuff. Someone take that idea and try and sell t-shirts *shrug* you can use those patterns if'n ya want.
Don't try and do everything. If you got a legit job AND want to start a gang, AND want to become a fixer, AND want do some bodygaurd work, yer seriously damaging the work availability. Your character should -not- be involved in everything and every aspect of the dome.
If you try this you will -not- get admin support.
We love to help out in RPing jobs, in getting people started in things etc. But we will not -give- you a monopoly on anything, we will not hand you gear.
And personally if you are trying to manage 2-3 groups and you neglect one, or slip up, i'd be inclined to deal with it ICly.
Not trying to be a prick here. But if someone has their hand in everything, then this game becomes terribly one-sided. And my job is to create balance.
Your best bet, play a role, and stick with it. You are all small peons in a world of millions. If joe blo walks into SK and starts shouting, of course the cameras will pick him up and the company will 'note' him as a 'risk'. In that way, corporations can take notice of you, but that does not make you 'important' in the eyes of the masses.
So please think about that before you start your dome domination plots, or your fixing/clothing/pizza delivery front for your interprative dance team.

If you started from chargen with 20 skills, i would say you've earned it, you developed your char to start with and have been workin hard to get em all up.

Those who consider themselves hardcore fighters might very well have high dodge/pistol/melee/MA/etc….
Consider this... Fighting is not everything. I for one have minors in several other areas and will decide which to persue... (code pending of course on several of them). And about the jobs issue. Sure, run a buisness. On the underside, run a gang or a network of informants, hell, then go off and be a fixer. The whole thing is, if you /really/ want to do all that, your going to be needing lots of cash, and lots of time. My advice, choose one or two, three if you really want to get into the game. The best ways to pull those off however would be to get other players involved, boosting RP in general for everyone. I mean, hell, RP is the core of this dome... and with the admin help, don't ask them to do everything for you. RP it out, maybe ask em to be a temperary fixer until you can set urself up with a player ICly, but you must /BUY/ the stuff from them as they are acting IC.
If you need an HQ, RP it, then send a mail or xhelp an admin politly asking if they have a few minutes to chat with you. Some people think they need an admin for everything... there are basically only 3 things admins can do that we need... 1) Sell certain items IE: Security equipment. 2) Build places for you 3) Do minor RP work such as NPCs.
Just about everything else YOU can do, so do it, and let the admins work on getting this place going full steam... THEN you can bug the hell outah them. *grins*

And i never said no mixing, just keep it realistic. If you can do everything and have jobs in every area that's twinkish. And yes the more people we got doing different things the better the RP. the MORE people...not the same person doing all those things.
Basically people, reccommended is to have one or two main ones, a few secondary. BUT If your history is your a techie who can fly or drive anything… play with that. You need to bust your butt to get all those good, so u can earn it.
Of course you can ask for help with like the building and stuff from them. But still you do not need admin approve for a player based corp/buisness.

Players can start their own companies/businesses, but they'll be considered small time until they amass the huge amount of resources a corporation has available.
It's not a matter of not being allowed to do something without admin permission so much as it is being able to.
1) If you are 'helped' by admin in acquiring a building, doors, stuff.....you are still expected to earn it, if not monetarily. If you are using a free building as your sleeping quarters only, yer missing the point. We give those spaces so that you have a starting point to create a part of the dome. If you don't persue it, it may be dealt with ICly.
Don't try and whine and tell us excuses and stuff. No one who's been given places/things have much grounds to be excluded from doing this. If ya want to chat with me privately that's fine. This isn't to point fingers or create conflict.
The point is that we admin are here to help you make the game fun. BUT on the flip side, we are also here to make sure the game is balanced and that things play out realisticly.
We WANT to help you start up your group/corp/gang....but it's damn frustrating to see that effort wasted.
Talk to me privately to discuss further. It'd be easier to keep this from becoming a flame.

2) Some talk about not having RP. I want to first point out that in don't think RP is mainly about some Huge plot. RP means Roleplay...you are playing a character. RP is about interacting in everyday life in a makebelieve world.
I am more impressed by people interacting well (according to character) than by how well you pull off a plot. STOP BEING FRIENDS WITH EVERY DORK NOB YOU MEET!
Two people have conflict + One person killing the other out of malice + betrayal of friends DOES NOT EQUAL:
Going out for a pizza later with the guy who killed you.
ESPECIALLY if the pizza place employs one who got killed and doesn't wanna serve the one who killed the other.

3) In addition to the first one....we want to make the game balanced and fun and make a realistic world. Where overcoming obstacles brings reward and slipping up brings up consequences.
Without one you don't have the other....
So when something happens, and you get your panties wacked DON'T CRY TO ADMIN! We've said this a hundred times: We discuss before we act. The admin hang do a bunch of stuff and chat over the admin channel trying to think of ways to make this place better and create fun for players. NOT FUN FOR CHARACTERS.
Please help us out. Don't make it hard for us to create this world. When there are IC actions there are IC consequences...sometimes between players, sometimes between players and NPCs/corps...but NEVER between players and admin. We aren't against you...but we are creating an experience. So when something happens to your character by an NPC, corp, whatever....take it like a mature player and don't whine.
This is not a democracy. Admin make the rules...(we are the law *chuckle) and we don't take the responsibility lightly. WE ARE NOT THE ENEMY...your parents are *eye* wait...no...
