With the client I use I have trouble finding fonts that keep my text properly aligned (i.e. SIC list, etc)…
anyone have ways of working around this? Do the fonts have to be of a certain type? And anyone have any choices? I tend to switch between Monaco and Courier...
Hrm.. I guess my question should be, is there any way to use fonts besides Fixed Width if I want t keep the formatting?

Anything monotype, I believe.

I prefer to use itty bitty sans-serif fonts, so I usually use Proggy Tiny. I keep it around 11pt and it keeps things looking nice and compact. You can download it at
ProggyFonts for free, and I highly recommend it.
If you're doing any coding/editing, it's also important that your font distinguishes between 1/l/i and 0/o/O well.
I personally think Bitstream Vera Sans Mono is pretty badass too, but if you google monospace fonts I'm sure you'll be able to find plenty of free ones that you'll like.
Or you could always be like Chaos and use red-on-black Wingdings with no ANSI colors.

Thanks for the link.
I came across a pretty good one called ModeNine. It has some quirks ([,] appear as arrows for example) but at 18pt it looks pretty cool and is very readable.

I use, um. Lucida Console, mainly (9 pt).. Used to have one called Journal that was lovely, but that got lost many years ago.
Spending hours on IRC makes for enough time to get something tailored to specific tastes. :)
*looks at other pretty fonts*

Nah, mine was like Courier New but a bit fancier. Ye olde fixed-width font, for which I have much love.

Don't worry..I was forced to give up my love of SimpleMu on my laptop and ended up with Mushclient. I've had a really hard time adjusting to figuring out where everything is compared to SimpleMu. When I get home tonight I'll play around and see if I can figure it out. If you figure it out by then…I need to change the font anyhow. I'm tired of Damus going "EW!!" and failing his arms wildly every time he sees it.
:D
