I've considered taking up Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do.. and I'm surprised to have found a third generation instructer of the art in the DFW metroplex… kickass.
(Just a mindless blurb to aide me in my ascension above Guttersnipe, folks-- thank you.)

Jeet Kun Do is a great martial art if you can find a decent instructor. There are a lot of posers out there who treat Jeet Kun Do like kickboxing combined with street fighting and Calai (stick fighting). Bruce Lee kicked ass. His art kicks ass. Good on ya for finding a 3 gen instructor. It would be cool if Jeet Kun Do could be passed on, maintained untill it becomes as old and mastered as something like Ninjutsu (Ninjutsu is pushing 1100 years old or so.)

I must say, any one who claims to be a master of Jeet Kun Do would have to be not telling the truth. From what I recall of the book Linda Lee (Bruce's wife) wrote from compilations of Bruce's own writings, no one person can master JKD, for it is /not/ a style. It is formless. Like water. Etc, I'm sure you know the rest. But it deliberately states that no one can be a teacher of JKD legitimately, for JKD is no certain style. It is to not have style. But I already said that. Enjoy. Oh yeah… rock on Ninjutsu and Aikido. (Those are /my/ arts baby)

I'd try to think of some way to belittle the recent thread twist... but I suspect I could -never- do as good a job as Nicad just did. Yo. Welcome to da house, bro...

Well.. I guess you'd say that I'm hoping to have this individual aide me on my path to self enlightenment. I have no formal instruction in the martial arts, and I've chosen a path that will improve my health, open my mind, and allow me to defend myself if the need arises… It is correct to say that Jeet Kune Do has no style.. but its basics can be taught.. of course, it might be better to teach myself, then find others of similar or greater practice in the art to aide me in honing my abilities.

Of course Jeet is a style. Bah. In it's formlessness itself is style. One must be taught formlessness in order to become the void, the formless.
and shit.
