I'm looking for anyone that is interested in helping. It's un-paid for now, but we will write recomendations, and you can put it on your resume.
We are pulling a page from Facebook, and using an API driven approach so that outside users can access the system in ways that Craigslist, MLS, backpage, and fastrental do not allow.
The general idea behind the site is that people do not like to waste time posting the same ad over and over. So instead of letting people post, we will have them 'add properties' to our database, and that info will be saved, and they can 'bump' the property every 24 hours to show that it is still active.
If it is now bumped for 7 days it goes inactive but is not deleted. Then a year later when the property becomes available again, they just hit 'bump' again and its active. (though they may wisht o change rent/move-in-date). There will be a pay section of the site that Agents/Brokers/Landlords can gain access too that will offer powerful tools and features.
I am looking for the following:
I need some part-time PHP programmers that either have experience or want to learn. Damus (another SD'er you all may know) is also working on this project with me (we both live in Boston).
Anyone who is interested in/knows Database Design. That's modeling, SQL, UML, etc.
Anyone farmilar with Java/AJAX/XML.
Graphic Designers (to do business cards, press kits, etc).
Like I said, it's not paid (yet) but if the site takes off you have my promise that you will be compenstated, and like I said, put it on your resume, in your portfolio, etc.
Basic programming experience is a plus if you wanna do any coding.
The website is going to be a lot more complex then I've just made it seem, and I do not want to go into all the details in a post here, but I have documentation that I can send out to anyone interested.
So, e-mail me at [email protected] if you want to help out. Even if you only want to do something every once in awhile. We'll still write you an excellent reccomendation!
