Player Appreciation

Every now and then someone, usually a player, posts something about an admin and how they appreciate something that they've done for them. Well I think it would be nice if we could post about players, or rather characters we like or enjoy roleplaying with. Let people know they're doing a good job, let them know that you think they are a contributing factor to your enjoyment of Sindome. But of course, you have to be careful not to post any IC information lest we all be hit with Johnny's gnome shoes.

I suppose since I started the topic I should start.

I really love Meg. She's funny, quirky and fun to roleplay with. I've done some great scenes lately with Desolate too, though unfortunately one of them can't remember it. Heh. It was still a lot of fun to explore my character history with her.

Hopefully that will start people off and help them not be embarassed.

Well if you wanna have a sappy love fest, I'll have to say that I've loved the times I've RP'd with Tash. She's really fun to talk to and very well played, the little details make things good.

Gunnar was really fun too.  He was a very consistent character, in my opinion. Always Gunnar through and through.

Moss is crazy and fun. I love every moment around Moss, he's probably the most real to me of all of them, and the one I love the most, though I could never tell you why.  I think about him a lot in real life, there's just so much more to him than meets the eye.

And then there was Rigby, God I miss RPing with him.  He was such a character, so round… everything about him was full of life and he too was ALWAYS Rigby, reliably.

Jackson's a really deep guy, I love what Tylissa finds in him that no one else seems to have in Withmore.  He's played by a super intelligent guy, so that's the reason I guess. Yep, definitely love the detail in RP with Jackson.

Desolate, what an admirable character.  She's so brave and so solid, like someone you could always lean on... or could you?  She's got that air of mystery that makes every chapter with her exciting.

I've had some really great moments with Aikao.  His player is incredibly attentive to detail. Aikao's interesting features are so vividly described, as well as all his actions.

oh my.. lessee…

i love moss. cause he's so gosh darned warm and fuzzy!....*snicker* but really. he is one of the most well rounded chars in the game i think. and as was mentioned before (too lazy to scroll up) hes one of the most real chars. Like.. I COULD picture a moss really walking about. Er.. skulking about;). and i've had some of the most fun RP when Moss was involved in one form or another.

gunnar as well was a treat. Attention to detail and such was great. And attention to psychological and emotional detail of other people seemed part of that character a lot.

And rigby was just whacked. A blast to RP with as well because he was no matter what always- rigby. (oo i remember and don't have to scroll down as to who said this as well! tyllisa!!)

and actually tyliissa is a good char to.. showing the transition that takes place over time.

it's been interesting for me. never having played a text based game before SD to figure out just how it's done.. and what it takes to create a character. i write short stories and such... but it's very different to create a character in a dynamic situation like a game with other players. Its been frustrating for me in that sense

but watching my favorite characters has been a damned fun and interesting way to learn.

Er if that makes sense Christ Im having issues with mental cohesion and uh... coherence as well  today.

*wanders off*

When I orginally started this topic I thought about mentioning Moss, but then I figured I know how big the player's ego is and said, "Naw." But given that I'm a bandwagon jumperoner I'll say this:

Moss is my absolute favourite SD character and I was privileged to see more than just the nasty side of him that so many others have seen. As Tylissa's player put it so simply and yet so eloquently he has elements of realism in him that make it quite plausible for you to picture him on the mean streets of Philidelpia or London or where ever you might choose to picture him. He exemplified the harsh juxtaposition between being a cold numb citizen of a violence filled world and a humane person that empathised with others in need and pain that I feel a clever and well played cyberpunk character should have. As a player I have often watched Moss being played and thought to myself, "There are so many things here I and really everyone can learn from and take and tailor to their own character." He is the kind of character that I esteem to play.

I would like to thank those players that take time to say things like 'ooc no, you should say that ICly' and 'ooc lets RP more and OOC less'.

I thank you for helping to keep the RP flowing.

~ J

In that case I thank Anna.
And also ono, yep senior you did what Johhny just posted, and more considerably taught me how to RP a lot better, including how to properly pose and use of ! poses. It was aslo great fun to RP with you and believable, if at times sureal.

I would like to thank the group of people I Rolplayed with at the apartement, Lena, Trancer, *gasp* even Lucien. Those rp times were very fun, forever changing and developing, and we did a lot in a week. And I thank Trancer for some sureal yet IC times.

Hmm, maybe I should have done this as I left, thanking all the people that made this game so fun and good for me, rather than focusing on the people that didn't. Lucien, and in a way me.

So, the player of Bias I thank you aswell, along with Victoria's player, and deffinetly Gwen; I really enjoyed the RP we had.

I would like to finally thank Damus, do you still play? *looks ponderously for a moment* He was great fun when I first started out and helped.

Wo, I miss this now remebering just relaxingly roleplaying with Gwen and Victoria in the Drome. Do you, Gwen's player still play? And I hope all is good Victoria.
Lena I hope you're doing well aswell, having not been on sindome for a while now

Right, I tried to not make that too big, I have bassically had a great time with the players I mentioned, for many reasons, and hope all, (especially those that seem to left left) my best wishes.
Live well ^_^

Wan, the next time you make a post unreadable by making the entire thing italic, I'll just delete it instead of fixing it for you. Don't abuse the ikoncode, I may not like your posts, but I read them. Italic is meant to give emphasis to something, overuse ruins that.
I have to say that there are four players in SD that blow me away…

Moss: Blimey. If I ever met anyone remotely possessed of the air of calm assurance and power, I think I'd either become their disciple or crap myself. Moss scares me, he's a bastard, but there's something in him that Jackson and I both kinda respect too. We like him. (And he's British - always a plus ;) )

Tash: OK, OK, she's the SD hottie...but there's a warmth about the character that shines straight through. You can *almost* forget that she's Moss' wife. Somehow, she's avoided becoming harsh and hard, at least publically...and she's a joy to RP with.

Tylissa: The only char. so far that I've genuinely felt sorry for and a well rounded personality that's flawlessly played.

Meg: Ho boy...She's amazing. Even though most don't see it, her insecurities and foibles are icredibly realistic. Further, the fact she seems to be a female version of Jackson and pulls it off better than me makes her amazing to have as an IC other half. I've actually come away from fights between the two feeling physically drained....

The real Moss.

No, what should scare you is the fact that the character  is a carbon copy of what the player is like in real life.

*pokes Cube* Shhhh…they're not supposed to know about his cult of personality.
You and I both know he's going to end up running the world anyway.

Thier bound to find out sooner or later.

Eh, not a carbon copy. Just lots of similarities.  Daniel might rule the world someday, but for different reasons and by a different method than Moss would.
Well from my experience our best characters tend to have deep roots tied to our own personalities, thats how many of us are able to pull them off so strongly, there may be much of Moss's typest in his character, but roleplaying brings about another medium, we go farther than we really are, and can do, its more than just being able to have a cybernetic eye, its being able to tell people off, being able to be a stripper, and so forth, its a route past inhibitions, and a means to explore yourself without worrying about permanant damages.
Wow Heeru, deep stuff…and so true:) Ah the wonders of the cyberworld, neh?

There's no doubting that the players mentioned on this thread are all -superb-...My character may not know them, but they have in some way become legends on the street, which speaks highly for their strength of character and caliber of RP - kudos to ya, folks!

In addition, my post here goes out to those that I appreciate just for hanging in there - the newcomers, some trying out this whole text gaming experience for the very first time. Yea, it may be tougher to find your own little niche here than in some other M**s, but it's worth it, and if you can grit your teeth and rise to the challenge, you've got what it takes. Salutations and welcome to all those guests that roam the boards - keep it up!

I have a good lot of kudos to pass out, though I'll only pass out the biggies.

Primo, questioning Doc Flame a couple months back was one of the best conversations I've ever had on SD. SD, being cyberpunk, is necessarily fast-paced, so it's not often you get to use 5-6 line poses. I was glad to have had that opportunity on SD, a very rare thing, and Flame's high quality poses deserve mention.

Next, looking back, Lucifer has got to be one of my favorite characters. I still slap myself on the head over that. Holy crap, looking back over all the things I've seen and heard about him ICly (particularly the rumours I didn't believe), and what happened, I just have to say - "Fuck." That's all. I applaud the now-departed(?) Lucille. (The character, I mean)

Doc Lav has, so far, also been fun to RP with. She's quite believable - and I mean it. Sometimes I get the impression that she walked in right off the IRL street..you can sort of 'smell' her personality, if you catch my meaning.

Des also has a strong personality, after a while, for me, it's gotten as if I can tell what she's going to say or do next - it's not that she's cliche, but more like how you sort of know someone enough to tell how'd they react in a situation. She just seems that kind of person - there's an indication of some strong psyche there. I'm thinking Des' player plays her from the gut, like she *knows* this person. Am I making sense?

Of course, the vast majority of people on SD are good RPers or have learned to be, a glorious side-effect of the @history system. Which is why I *make* time to play here whenever possible.

Oh yes! Flame is amazing. I truly bow before her incredible - if that word is even good enough - posing skills. She puts everyone to shame that girl. And she's a kick ass character to boot. She's played so well. I wish that Tash had gotten to spend more time with her.

Oh boy, this may take a while…

Before I start, let me say thank you for the compliments. I was sort of suprised to see my character come up on this thread.

Moss - While we're all doing it, let me say that his character is one of the best I've seen. He was truly a little -too- good at what he did. And, like Tash, I got to see the "better" side of Moss. He really did well portraying the certain personal battles that someone who has that persona would go through when it comes down to emotions.

Tash - Her posing is fantastic, and she's one of the best in the game at using the ambient population and objects in room descriptions. We as players tend to forget about those things because they aren't "tangible".

Flame - My god. The first time I RPed with her, I was more intimidated than anything. She actually inspired me to get better with my posing. And she was a really well-developed character. I'm going to miss RPing with that one, but at least Sam's around here somewhere, still with us. You'll know her when you see her.

Rigby - Being the one who probably RPed with Riggers the most, I have to say his character rocked. There were a few small inconsistencies, but he really did do a good job.. Anyone who was around for the time he had an interview with the Katana Killer saw the transition from sweet reporter from a blue-blooded family to the scarred, perverted Rigby we all came to know and love.

Nicadeamus - I've been Rping with Nic for a year and a half or more. Just about every time Des has gotten some ambition, it came from a speech that Nic had made. Her animacy about the corps really kinda roots in him. He's a solid character, and a lot of fun to RP with.

This is gonna be my last one. Not to say that I don't think there are some more really great characters, because there are, but I'm not going to spend all day trying to list all of them and why they rock.

Gally/Kikai - Another one I've been RPing with since the beginning. Let me tell you something, people: if you ever want someone to make you feel like you (your character, sillies, not YOU) should get the hell up and DO something, have a nice long talk with that character. Every analogy, every speech, every interaction with that character (for any length of time anyway) is inspiring to me. Not to mention, it's a very well-played character idea.. I'm not going to say what "it" is. But those who know I think will agree.

Ok. Done. Byebye.

Carrie/Des

The MHL! (not really)

Just an old thread I thought I'd try and pump some life into with some new additions.

Deuce. Yeah, we all probably knew him. Though his stats and skills may not have been incredible, he somehow managed to blast through all the barriers most new characters set for themselves. Granted, he may not have lasted long, he certainly could have. [Moderation Mode: IC/RL information removed] But with Deuce, he proved that he could change his style at the drop of a hat, and play a completely different role with a different personality. Kudos to you, man.

McClure. I won't give any IC details away, but dude.. you fucking rock. I just wish I could RP with you more often. But alas, OOC time conflicts arise.

Tylissa. I've had some very good RP with her in the past, and have seen her change and grow as time progressed. Its amazing what the dome can do to the innocent.

I sincerely hope that more players will follow the examples these have set and enhance this cyberpunk world into something I can truly enjoy all of the time. Lately things have seemed to grow rather slow, and many of the new players are not of as high a quality as I would have hoped. But, there is still plenty of time to learn, and to improve. I also know that many other people that I've RP'd with may deserve to be praised, however I'm simply waiting for them to show me how CP they can really be. I hope as well, that my roleplaying abilities are living up to expectations.

Style over substance, baby!

(Edited by Kevlar at 12:21 am on May 30, 2003)

I'd like to say first and foremost, just about every person in SD I have ever interacted with has posessed extremely good roleplaying skills that exceed all expectations. There are many characters I have not had the pleasure of interacting with, which I would have loved to be a part of. But then, there are a few who I have…

First off, Aikao. Ike's attention to detail, as said before, is extremely defined and eye-catching. His character moves just as he describes him, consistant, and yet with that alternate side of him that makes him deeper than he seems and makes you think.

Gunnar. What's there to say? Gunnar Sharp was one of the most influential characters in the history of SD. His publications and performances made headlines, as did his ... "other" work. Very well he played his ignorance and hidden knowledge of things that had happened, working situations to his advantage.

Gerik. I only RP'd with him for a short time, but he, Lena, and Dimitri(sp?) may have been what got me really hooked in the dome. Some occurances happened my first night in the dome with those characters, and I was more than intrigued. Gerik's imposing yet almost caring nature was great, as was Lena's innocent street girl attitude. I didnt get to know Dimitri that well (i'm not sure if that's his name..), but he proved to constantly make things interesting. Kudos to all.

Bias. When you have great roleplaying skills like Iz, who needs capital letters? Everything about her just draws you in - the attention to detail, her entire attitude, and her poses are a real treat to read. She's very realistic and believeable character, one who constantly makes my RP sessions in the dome worthwhile.

Nicadeamus. The shogun of fun, Nic is always great to have around. Energetic without being peppy, fun without being excitable. He seems to radiate RP wherever he goes, seemingly awaken players into doing something they'd never think of, or just generally making his surroundings alot better than they were without him.

Marcus. Marcus's character is really quite good and well put together, spending alot of time playing out his emotions and thoughts as fluidly as I've ever seen. His words seem to hold power, and his desperation is very realistic, much like how I feel most people would be in his situation. All in all, a very well done character.

And last, but definatly not least, Rigby Barclay. Rigby was such an egnimatic character, full of life and strong opinions that seemed to stir people's emotions so well. He reminds me of Nic in a few ways, but was very much his own person. I only had the chance to RP with him for a very short time, but the time it was done it really made an impression on me.

I am sure, being the super ultra forgetful person that I am, that I have left out some very well deserved applauds and congratulations. For that I am truly sorry. The player base here is absolutely wonderful and makes playing Sindome a real joy. To all of you out there, thank you so much for bringing real charm to this game, and keep up the magnificant work!

-Raz

Alright, well I guess I'll add my bit to this. I'm going to make these somewhat brief, I don't want to prevent anyone from walking through doorways ~_^

First off, I have to admire Rain for his RP skills. He has not only created a deep and dynamic character, but he has also helped me with my own character development, and sticking to it.  All in all, he's great.

Lucien is great to RP with as well.  His character is awesome in itself. Without releasing IC info, he's created some good plots, whether he knows it or not.

Hm…Marcus is awesome. I almost hesitate to say this, but only becasue he has been mentioned before and I know he's going to get a big head. But anyways, he sticks to himself very well.

Jaguar was fun to RP with, even if it didn't last very long. He caused some interesting things as well...

Anywho, moving on, Nava is great. Her character is wonderfully played. I don't know how else to say this other than she adds a bit of childish joy to the game. As well as her episodes.

There's so many characters from the past in both Lillith's time and my past character that were so much fun to RP with. I'm pretty sure they know who they are, but just to mention them, Gerrett, Damian, Chipp, Damus, and many more.

Oh..and some interactions with NPC's when GM's puppeted for me has been pretty good too. *chuckles* Oh yes..I've had some fun with them.

Well considering my nature of disapearing for long periods of time on short notice, I have a lot to make up for, especially considering that I just found this board of post today, my attention having been directed to it by Daniel, and though this response is way outdated, and more than likely won't be seen by anyone, I still have to make my say.

First-off, I thank the many mentions of my previous and well-loved char, I do miss her so; and appreciate the many words said upon the experiences they were based upon.

For first congrats, I'd like to thank Johnny and Firestorm (though they're admin, they're who first inspired me to try SD, rather than overlook it as I more than likely would have.) for their many efforts to keep us all happy.

Though myself personally, I have to thank many more.  I should like to go all the way back to the beginning, but sadly I can't even remember her name, though I know the player.  I would really like to thank Liz for the many hours upon hours of fun we had, which actually developed Flame into being who she was I think.  The many times of holding parties for everyone or just ourselves; getting stoned out of our minds just to see a dog on the cieling talking about the weather.. amazing.

Kro most exceptionally, for the times when we did get the chance to interact, even being the grease monkey he was at the time, it seemed there was never an end to the interest and intent of his character, a different aspect from any other character I knew at the time.

Des - For the most part, Des had to be my most favourable character.  As forementioned in previous posts, she was a very solid character, yet mysterious in the same.  I guess maybe because I shared many of the same attributes, and enjoyed them as well.  Des was always someone of whom you could lean on, always there for you, and always sticking her neck out for those in need.  She was an exceptional character, I just wish I had've had more time to RP with her, as well as everyone else.

Tash and Nic were both amazing, I wish I could go on more about the events that occured in that period of time, but my memory is at a loss.  What I do know, is that they were both at the epitomy of Flames lifetime on SD, and were the cause of quite of great times.

I could go on more and more about several other people, and I feel kinda guilty not defining they're every detail as is true to my nature, but I am at a loss of words for the many the deserve to be noted in this post.
So, hopefully not taking away from the same gratification as I have recieved from many, I hope that everyone else I mention does not feel like they're not held in the same respect, but my thanks continue on to Akaru, many times shared running from Judges and plotting deeds;  Lucien, god what was I thinking (amazing to say the least), and I must really be losing my mind now, because when I started this post I had so many people in mind… and now I can't think of any more.. but I know there is.. I just hope you know who you are.. My many thanks to you all, for making SD so fun, so interesting, intriguing and enjoyable.  Couldn't have done it without ya's and the many admin to boot.

On a special note, I'd especially like to thank Jared (even though I've already made mention of the player), those were some of the best times I had, and still wouldn't have been so fun without everyone else there.  I love you all, I just hope I don't have to leave again.

          Sincerely, you're biggest fan;

                     ~@Sam MacBride@~     :o)~

No one likes me??? :(.  This will be deleted cause I wanna pay homage to a few characters that left sindome.

Gerik was greawt at combat and started conflict.

Moss loved to plot and kill.

Nic created my first RP.

And Lucifer.  he became a gm cause of his RP skills.  He learned to code from there.  But he took interest else moo.  And what does johnny do bout it?  blacklists him.  Can you believe.  People twink, and bad mouth sindome all night and day.  But becuase Lucifer/Wren took interest in another moo he can't log on and help your sindome any more?!?  JOhnny is a fuckin nazi.  I've said so for a while.  And the more you play the sooner you will know.  Many of you will never know the glory days of sindome.  WHen it was fun.  Rastus, the xm days.  Alls orts of good st uff.  The days of martial arts.  But johnny has decided that MA and the matrix are less important than babble-on.

I want to say to those of you who love sindome as I once did, take head, and be careful don't put your hearta nd sould in it, cause like all relationships, it'll end bad.  I used think johnny as a reasonable guy, he once was.  But now he won't talk to me or wren about his situation.  He can not be reasoned with.  So unlesss you can live with dull Rp and poor code, find other moos to play as well.

As for those who love sindome.  Great To each their own.  Love it play it, ane enjoy it.

To the rest of us, johnny ignored me for tryin talk about it.  Man to man.  But he won't cause logic and reason are lost on nazi's.

Fuck, I haven't used this login for at least a year… I don't think Wren even exists anymore...

While Dom's rant will probably be deleted, I hope this post won't be. Some of Dom's was true, some not... but what I do have to say is this.

Yes, I took interest in another MOO in order to further my coding abilities and help my best friend learn to code. And I in no way was going to go against Sindome. Unfortunately... thanks to a little bad luck and idiocy... Johnny and I don't see eye to eye on the whole ordeal. We ended up talking about it for a good three hours before he went off to bed.

I've been a part of Sindome for I believe almost five years now. Nearly two as an admin, and three as the infamous Lucifer that a few of you still remember. Sindome was my crutch when life took away every other thing I could hold on to.... and slowly, I got back on my feet. It was then that I decided I wanted to give back to the game that gave so much to me. It gave me friends, confidence, and a community I trusted.

Now... while I haven't exactly been on the best of terms with everyone, I have made some amazing friends here... and some enemies. To anyone I've pissed off in any way, I appologize. Whether you accept it, believe it, or not... its there.

Now... to the situation at hand... yea, I messed up. Thats all that really needs to be said. I may not be on the MOO anymore as Wren or Luc... but I'm never going to leave. So long as Jman doesn't delete this account, I hope to post and keep up... if he sees fit to delete this too... well... I guess thats that.

In all, I guess this is what you'd call a goodbye. I doubt I'll be on Sindome anytime in the future... especially in a recognizable name... so to all, goodbye. To all whom I got the pleasure of getting to know, I'll miss ya.

Peace out all... and Viva la Sindome... for now, and forever.

(Edited by Lucifer at 2:04 pm on Aug. 17, 2003)

For  the record many of my comments may have been misleading, I was not myself last night.  But Things of this nature are my business.  Cause I said so.

I said nothing last night I know to be false.  Period.  Could they be?  Sure.  But all the other stuff was true as of the last time i talked to admin, and played the game.  I will stand by what I said.

Just to add one thing… because now everyone wants to start making accusations.

I have NOT. Nor will I -EVER- take, copy, delete, or in any way edit or tamper with code on Sindome in the name of another MOO. Period. End. Of. Story.

To anyone who wants to think that, all I can say is you can go shove it up your ass.

Actually Luc, your about as old as me, and I'm clockin into 3 years, five months at the end of August.

:)

As too comments about the quality of the gaming, the direction of code developement, that is personal opinion of yours Dom. Babble-On is of great importance as a foundation code for the Matrix and for large parts of Cybernetics. Just thought I would share that, because there are a lot of people out there who think you can build a house without a proper foundation. Babble-On is core importance to a lot of things, it is ultimately a subtle tool that has required massive man hours to get working, and yeah, seeing as there are only 2 full time coders, things like Cybers and Matrix dev got side tracked. Like so many things in life, stuff happens.

Anyhow, I'll just not comment on the rest of your post Dom, it seems to be, for the most part, drunken angry posting.

But, as a side note, I must tell you something Dom.

You have always been on my 'English as Second Language' list.

:)

Take that as the light-hearted joke it is.

On a completely seperate note:

Thanks to all the players who've been on during what has been a fairly slow time for staff and playerbase. You've shown that pioneering spirit that I had when I started here, way back in the day.

Back then you would spend -hours-, sometimes -DAYS- without any major interaction with a very small active player base. In a lot of ways, things are a bit slow like that time, but on an up note, there are a lot more people, they just aren't logging on all at once.

But thank you to all the players who show up, play, and the like. It is why we staff are here in the first place.
