Project Dolphin

Anyone ever heard of Project Dolphin?

It's a simple program that counts how many keys you hitted on you keyboard and from time to time it sends the ammount of keys (just a number) to a server to keep track.

Loads of people are making teams and competeing against each other….

What do you say we kick their asses?

I'm all for it, provided you apologize for saying 'hitting.'

'Hit' or 'struck' is grammatically correct. ;)

I'm going to have to pass, because:

1) We simply don't stand a chance. The user base is to small.
2) My cpu cycles are better spent counting things other than my keystrokes.
3) I don't care how many keys people press. It's a meaningless statistic which provides no insight into anything… other than how many keys get pressed in a given timeframe.
4) You could make a program about 10 lines long in C which makes it look like your pressing keys. Or if you want to go about it the hard way you could make a device which plugs into your keyboard port and types for you.
5) Compeating with people is (in my view) suposed to be about skill, not how much of a loser you are spending all day typing just to get a higher count.
6) It's tantamount to spyware. No one needs to know that I even exist, let alone how many keys I'm pressing. I don't care how 'anonymous' they claim the recording is; If my computer connects to their computer, I'm no longer anonymous.

But feel free if you want to.

I have a MOO client at home that counts the number of lines sent to you, commands you've sent, and hours logged into a server.

It's about time I did an update on my numbers…should do that when I get home. I belive SD has around 5000 manhours of time put in...
