Public SD stuff on Xdrive

Ok, a few weeks ago, I tried to manage the process of giving you all access to a bunch of stuff I had uploaded to Xdrive. Well, it was a pain in the ass for all of us to get into it because it was a manual process on my part to create your accounts and give you access.

No more!

If you want to access the public Sindome stuff, just Click here (it might be slow to come up) and you'll be able to get a free Xdrive account or log into the account you've already got and you'll have access real quick.

Anyone who already had access will need to do this again, including staff, in order to get access back.

Once inside, you'll be able to submit your own content and share this with others.

Yes, I work for Xdrive and actually did all the work to make this possible. If you feel like posting your experience with it, I'd be happy to have your feedback so I can make it better on the next go-round.

I released some major enhancements for Xdrive today, so the performance of the link has gotten a lot better and shouldn't time out anymore. Have fun.
How, exactly, do you get a -free- account? If I try to sign up from that link, it still wants a credit card.
Oh, they want as many people as possible to signup ofcourse. But if you bail out when your on the credit card page, it'll popup and offer to give you a FREE account because you're attempting to get a public folder.
hey I saw a pic on xDrive called "sindome platform" that includes wap/hdml browser.  does this mean I can access sindome with a wap browser?
I do all the time.

You can check the who list, get the connection address and browse and post to the BgBB.

I mostly use it to browse the BgBB when I'm away from the PC :)

just go to www.sindome.org

oh…..*sighs*

I want to play sindome on my phone, know where I can find a good telnet client for the symbian os?

can't access that on wap can you?

yeah, I know.

The realtime nature of the MOO makes cell access something that you would regret.

Here's the original topic on the cellphone support

you haven't seen my phone.
*grins*

but even the extremely slow transfer speed of cell phones accessing the net should not be too slow for a text based game right?

assuming you are getting a full signal, of course.

No, its the latency that will kill you, not the transfer rate. Cellphones aren't designed for realtime access to data, they're designed for the exact opposite.

Now, I have played SD from an iPAQ Pocket PC phone. But it had a telnet client on it, and it was hooked up on the local LAN using 802.11. But the input sucks ass.

I mean, do you really want to wait for the guy on the phone to thumb-out his pose?

like I said you haven't seen my phone.  (nokia 9290 if you care, I've comfortabily written rough drafts for my english class, not to mention my charcter's history on it.

I undestand how my phone works on packet switched data, but any further than that I don't really  what do you mean latency.?

Latency, simply, is the amount of elapsed time, from the time the data was sent, to the time it is recieved.  The longer it takes, the higher the latency.
In MOO terms, it could likely mean that before you know you've been attacked, your dead ;)

You already deal with latency (we call it 'lag' normally) on the moo, but it would be much worse with a cell phone because your going thru a lot of extra shit between points A and B.

ok, I now see, and understand.  thanks for  clearing that up.
Does this thing work? I click "Click here to submit stuff.url" and I get:

var xdrive = xdrive || parent.xdrive || nul
