Ok, this question is gonna sound kinda..ya know, but uh, Which skill does the shotgun relate to?
Heavy Weapons? That's what I would think.
Or is it Rifle? Alot of CP weapons guides that I look at have shotguns under the Rifle subject.

I did xhelp. No one replied, becuase they allways idle!
But I don't see why it is IC info, I mean, I'm tryin to use common sense on this one, but just some stuff I read made me think about it.

I've brought this up before and it was completely ignored.
I don't see any reason why it would not be common knowledge what stats do what.
for instance if I'm not shooting well I should realize that either A I'm having trouble identifing the target (perception) or B one of my shooting fundamentals is off, trigger pull, breathing and whatnot (pistol) than I should know how to correct the problem.
I could go on and on, but the bottom line is: there should be a list of actions you can preform, and then the skills that they coincide with. That's not "ic info" in my opinion it's common knowledge. If I want to get better at something I should know damn well how.
And on that note, I -think- shotgun is rifle. That's the impression I've always been under. Heavy weapons should probibaly pretain to HEAVY weapons,(rocket launchers, non-handheld machine guns and the like) which in the mind of any firearm enthusiast would probibaly not include shotguns. I'm not 100% sure on that but I have reason to think this way.

Man, shotguns are pretty damn heavy! I shot my Unc's Benelli last week and it left a bruise on my shoulder.
But anyways, Rifle would seem more logical, as heavy weapons are like Bazookas and shit.

If you type 'help skills' and then 'use your brain' you can usually get a pretty fucking good idea.
Shotguns fall under the catagory of gun that is a rifle.
AK-47 falls under the catagory of a gun that is heavy or submachinegun.
And, just so you all know, -ALL- weapons, computers, skill checks use MULTIPLE skills and stats to do the calculations. Why? Because, in the real world if you know how to shoot a rifle really really well, chances are a bit of that skill will rub off when you use a submachinegun, or hell, even a hand gun.
And finally, as I always say: STATS. ARE. IRRELIVANT.
Stop worring about your fucking stats all the time. Stop worriing about what they do and how they do it. If you are fucking going @stats then using that information to deterimine whether or not you lip off player x, then you are -NOT- roleplaying. If you are sitting around boosting the fuck out of x skill before you go out into the game to play, YOU ARE NOT ROLEPLAYING. If you are 'shitty' at something, role play getting better at it. Or ignore it. Or be a hardass anyway, and when some big nasty puts you down for the count, hold a fucking grudge, get hopped up on v-202, then blow holes in his back later.
Christ.
Fucking statwhores.

Well I'm glad someone said someting, because an ak-47 is neither a heavy weapon, nor is it a submachinegun. it's an assault rifle, which would probibaly fall in the rifle category as far as SD is concerned.
Which is why it is so important that we ask these questions. You ask 90% of anyone who knows anything about firearms and they will tell you and Ak is not a submachine gun, but there it is in black and white: the SD interpertation of it is in fact a sub.
people arent' asking to be stat whores, people ask to be true to their charcters, if I've been rping practicing my ass off with my AK and I spend tons of UE on rifle thinking that's the way to go, and game wise it's not helping as much as using submachinegun…. I think you see where I'm going with this. It's about getting the most out of your UE, not twinking out.
and as far as evaluating your stats and letting that influnce decisions. I can see your point Iga, and agree to a certain extent, but think about this for a moment. I'm in a bar, drunk, some dude is looking at my girl funny. I look at him, think about my own poweress, and decide weather talking shit is a good idea. am I looking at some numbers that represent my personal "stats"? no, but am I evaluating myself in a similar manner before acting? Yes.
food for thought chums.....

Yar. Like I said: Call it submachinegun, assult rifle, or heavy weapon.
Chances are, something like the MP11 or an AK-47 will require all of them in some greater or larger context.

Well, I just went and poked about, we don't have any assult rifles in the game at present, so I guess it is up for grabs what skill(s) it would use.
:)
Closest we have is the MP11, which is of course, a submachine gun.

[IMO] Assault rifles are rifles… The gray area is on carbines... They come from both a rifle that 'shrunk' and from a SMG that got bigger. Guns specialists rate them from the weapon they are based on (either a rifle or a SMG). [/IMO]
As for rifles and SMGs do we have the option for under/overbarrel attachments? Like grenade launchers, missile launcher, laser sight, scope mount, smartgun mount?

Missle luancher on a gun?
I'd like some folding stocks, some Silencers, scopes, Ammo drums, and any other kind of custom things you can slap on there. Customs make things cool.

Of course, the AK-47 descendant* will be an assault rifle. As will the M16 descendant*.
My core guide for weapons is the d20 Ultimate Firearms manual. Not for any d20 rules, but for weapon specification reference.
I stand behind Iga's words when it comes to worrying about your skills too much. While your RP should be based on your @stats, this applies in a more general sense. A negative example of this is someone who sounds and acts smart dispite a foolish intelligence. A positive example of this is someone who with very low charisma who tries to convey that in their description and nakeds and the general way they come off.
