Just wanted to take a poll that has nothing to do with anything, really…
What color defaults do you guys use when you play Sindome?
Although it is superfluous to the game, I think it can enhance the mood when you are playing (I find black backgrounds just fit the theme better), and if used improperly, I would imagine it could confuse the game's use of ANSI color.
Of course, if you use text -colour-, you can respond as well. :P

Black background.
Standard text font: 10% Black
I run with ANSI colours on, though on my client they are customizable to a large degree. I use A deep blood red for the normal red things, like SIC and items in a room. I use a brighter version for bold-red things like room names on Red.
Adminside I use every colour of the bloody rainbow to keep track of all the information that I have access too. It is really quite pretty…
I use some dirty cyans for some gameside stuff as well.
*shrugs*

Sindome has standard colors.
Just type @ansicolors and calibrate yours until the words match the colors of your system.
VMOO starts things off with the background color a horrible shade of gray. We recommend a black background for best readability.

Yeah, I hate the gray default VMOO background.
I usually run with the standard SD ANSI colors, black background.
Though if I'm using SimpleMOO I sometimes use various JPEGS related to Sindome as background.. Though lately I haven't been using it much.
Admin-side, mine is probably the same as Iga's, or similar. There are 18 admin channels (not including some other things we have spamming through our screens), 12 of which I have access to and listen on a regular basis. Most of them are different colors. Its spammy as hell, but usually I can pick out the most important things and seperate them easily.

So I checked out @ansicolors, and all seemed well, except for these mysterious color names:
This color is [normal] normal
This color is [normal] normal
This color is [bright] bright
Not sure what Bright should be, but I quickly found out is was the TV/blimp Ads and corresponded to default Bold. Normal is default foreground, and constitutes the majority of the text on the MOO, but there is no indication what the color should be.
So there is a *little* room to be creative with your text color.

I won't go on about color for much longer, but I have to say - I tried the 90% black, Iga, and I just feel more comfortable with a 50% green foreground.

Do you guys use white for your normal text? I can't stand white! GAH!
I use black backround, and matrix type green for the normal text.. like room descs and talking. Other then that, standard SD colors.

Matrix config just like nemmy for default text.
People are Red.
Things are Red.
When I'm at work I set my terminal to transluscent and run Itunes visualization in the background. Madddd tripppy. ;)

After playing around with color, I am in the green text camp. I have settled on 50% green for regular text, 100% green for bold, black background, and standard ANSI for the rest.
I thought I remember Xeethot going on a tirade against green text in favor of blue. Did I imagine that?

Xee, I was thinking of an old post on your blog:
15.6.04
Colors
I like black. I have black as the background of my computer screen, on the background of my NetBeans and text editors. I love it. But I am not fond of pastel greens over black, don't ask me why. Maybe it's just too much Cyberpunk influence, but for me green on black has to look like it will burn your eye. Full glowing green with the faint ones being at 70% when on the minimum.

Like I said, I like black with a very light grey text.
Full on white anything comming off a CRT monitor makes my eyes water and hurt. It is a pain in the ass for me to do some graphic design projects. LCD monitors are less hard on my eyes. Besides, adminside we have streams of info that come at us in green, gold, red, blue, grey, violet, and white, so for me most of the time it is a rainbow of ansi scrolling past my screen at a steady rate.

To get a greater variety of color out of the MOO, I messed around with my setting and came up with this interesting mix:
Black background.
Black = Black (There is no black text in the game anyway)
Black-Highlight = Dark Gray
Red = Orange
Red-Highlight = Bright Red
Green = Olive
Green-Highlight = Bright Green
Yellow = Golden Yellow
Yellow-Highlight = Bright Yellow
Blue = Cool Steel Blue
Blue-Highlight = Bright Blue
Magenta = Light Violet
Megenta-Highlight = Bright Megenta
Cyan = Sky Blue
Cyan-Highlight = Bright Cyan
White = Light Gray
White-Highlight = White
It makes things very interesting. A difference in color with the RED Level room labels and the items within the room. A difference between GOLD level room labels and the ambient population messages. Not just a difference in tone or shade, really.
Good stuff. Looks a bit awkward at first though. But I think I might keep it.
