The Enforcer, not so far into the future
It doesn't shock you yet...

Wired News reports that a company called Verichip has produced a chip that links the user to the firearm. So if you don't have the right chip the gun doesn't work.

Verichip announced a partenership with FN Manufacturing to produce "smart weapons"…

When will they put it all toguether so we can have cybereye targeting scope and smart guns that shoot automaticatically when the gun aims into the target you selected?

And while they are at it they could add a shock to the gun to make the person drop it too... ;)

I read an article about those smartchips a while ago(too long ago to be able to find it again :( ) In the army a few years back I was part of a test-unit during a testing peroid called "force-21" among the gear we tested was a camera mounted on an M-16, which would relay the signal to an eyepiece worn on the helmet, the major benifit being you can fire around corners without exposing yourself (was wierd being able to shoot from the hip with near the same accuracy as auctially being in a comfortable firing position. There was also talk of being able to link these to special radio/laptops that the communications (RTO) guy would carry, which could in turn transmit it to other places. And you thought "COPS" was cool imagine watching a live, real-time firefight on CNN through the perspective of the soldiers.

Man, sometimes I really miss the army.  Just sometimes though.

I saw those camera gun and computer dealies on TLC once.

as to leathal defense systems, I hear there is a car alarm in South Africa that shoots flames.

I saw the car alarm thingy on TV a while back, forgot the show though…
You guys are so funny… you all act like complete newbies to this whole 'interweb' thing.

A search on google for 'flamethrower car' revealed several stories, one of which contains a quicktime movie of it in action.

Can we stop with the contentless posts saying, 'Oh yeah, I remember that! Don't know where though.' allready?

You sound like those elitist assholes on /. that make me not want to post.
I'de much rather be an elitist asshole than a complete waste of time and space… (It's a joke, people! Laugh!)
