it takes awhile at first, but type out what your going to say then read it over and replace the words with slang from above or from @who. As it gets easier start to incorporate more and more words into what you say daily.
p.s.
Surely 'fuck head' and baka have different nuances...

Never did have much luck trying to enforce use of certain words, best you can do is put it into use and hope it is absorbed, much like how language changes in the real world.
I still reckon puke should be slang for the SIC implant though, never could get that to catch on. :(
Hearing voices in your head is potentially intrusive/offensive and has a wide spread (public SIC), thus you puke.
Really I was just using it as example that enforcing use of slang doesn't work, much as you can create a word in real life and try to bring it into common use, some words survive and others disappear.
Fuck dates back some 6-700 years at least, where-as frak dates back to… the original Battlestar Galactica and Judge Dredd (both late 70's). It's used as a simple replacement for fuck because it'd be unacceptable for fuck to be used in the TV series or comic. Pretty sure it was also included in the CP2020 streetslang reference, again for the same censorship reason. SD is 18+, so really the use of a censored swear word seems rather redundant. *shrug*
Fun with linguistics... :)
Quote: from Jotun on 2:31 pm on Aug. 31, 2008[br]judge dredd is late 70's? and ya, cp2020 did do that, I remember cause I was a geek… as did Rifts.. ya anyone play that shit?
Yea, Dredd first appeared in 2000AD comic in 1977 apparently. I'd have guessed very early 80's if I hadn't looked it up, but it was '77 (heh, I was like 3 when Judge Dredd came into existence, bet half of you lot weren't even born :D).
SIC is actually Secure Identification Chip, though it may have been what you stated at one point or another.
I'm by no means telling anyone that if they don't use CP slang they will end up in the void or anything like that. The topic description was more of a joke based on my in game @wow message.
I just wanted to bring up that use of slang seems to have tapered off. I know everyone has their favorite words, for me it's 'baka' and 'scan'. I'm posted mainly to get people thinking about slang and how they can incorporate it into the things they say daily, as it definitely adds some ambience.
Plus, nothing is better then having someone say something to you that sounds totally bad-ass and which you also at the same time have no idea what the 'frak' they just said.
That's how it was for me when I first started and I loved it. NPC's coming up to you and saying shit like:
Iz goin' chummuh? De paydata on dat splatjob we sentchu fin' ain't fin' it's way ta we's hands not nothing. Tell yu wat bata, ya make wit de thang flash an' yu get sum extra flash, ya scan? An' dun' be goin' scatterbrained on' me no more, ya kick de cold tea till ya make good ya got dat gato? We can't hire no ferryman ghost dat bakuto chimpira till iz aces.
Translation: Get me that information because we can't tell the hitman where to find him until we have it. And stop drinking because it's making you sloppy.
No doubt about slang adding a lot to the feel of the game, sorry if I started to sound like I was railing against it. To be honest I've just never been a big fan of the general flavour of common CP slang, maybe it's an accent thing, most of it just doesn't sit right with me. :)
