There are other posts. I am making a new one because I think there is a need for a new, bold, yowling topic header. Keep in mind that I am posting this, and it is MY personal statements, and the rest of the administration on the MOO may not share my statements, or how I have stated things.
I am very troubled by the behaviour on the MOO lately from all ranges of player categories, from newbie to veteran players. It is not enjoyable for me to log in on and read about case after case of players breaking @rules, or violating IC/OOC mandates, or even doing things that are radically out of theme. This is unacceptable.
For a new, novice player we have always allowed a great deal of learning room. Lee-way for them to figure things out. Usually they either do or they move on. From new players this is to be expected. To see established players of this game violating theme and In Character/Out of Character boundaries is, to be frank, infuriating.
As established veteran players you are to set the example for new players. You are to set the STANDARD of game play quality. EVERY single time you act in a manner that is unthemely or that is out of your characters nature, you do yourself and the general game play of the MOO a great disservice. We administrators can not, and SHOULD NOT HAVE TO, spend hours every week sifting through recorded logs of daytime and evening actions on the MOO to find who has been messing about, and who has not. Yet we are increasingly finding that is exactly what we are doing.
In a disturbing number of cases we are finding not NEWBIES or even Novice players at fault. We are seeing FIRMLY ESTABLISHED characters, and individuals who have been playing the game for a good long time. People who should KNOW better.
This behaviour WILL stop.
If you thought the staff were hard ass in the past, you just wait. I for one am going to propose a harder line approach in these matters, based on the time a person has been a player on the MOO (not character age, PLAYER age), the severity of the infraction, and the past case history of infractions.
Players will be removed from the game.
Players will be asked to leave.
Players will be newted, blacklisted, and deleted as situations call.
This is not an issue for player debate. This is not a topic that you as players will be posting to. This is a heads up and a warning, shape up or ship out.
There are some wonderful players here, there are people who have done fantastic things in the game and for the game. They do not deserve to have to deal with individuals who are unable to function within the theme, and more importantly, within the RULES of the game. I have seen amazing things done on the MOO, by some wonderful people. Do not interpret this as a blanket 'Iga hates all the players' type statement. Read it for exactly what it says. Some people are messing things up for everyone, and they will be asked to behave. Should they fail that, they will be removed from the game.
Every single person in the world has the ability to make a choice, to think about things they are doing, and to act in an appropriate manner. There is no excuse. You all can think for yourselves, and you all control your actions.
So start doing so.
