Alright, so I have been thinking about shotguns… isnt it true that they would be about as much as pistols, I mean the top end ones. I have seen them go for as much as <deleted because I am not -that- stupid, but it was a lot of money> and it got me wondering what made them so worthful? I mean, sure, they'd be much harder to sneak into the place, but once in they'd be worth probably a .357, and the top end ones... maybe two .357's. What I am wondering is why are they so goddamn expensive? I own two and they didnt cost me more than 800 American Dollars, and they werent the shitty Wal-Mart guns, these came from Cabela's. And while I was there I looked at some pistols, they had one selling for 1100 dollars, and it wasnt even semi-automatic. I dont know, could someone clear this up for me?

in real life, shotguns typically are harder to conceal, hold less ammo, and don't have too much range. So they aren't worth tooo to much.

But this is SD. The players set their own prices. You can choose too pay them or jump them and take it from them.

And you dont want to use ammo after a year, it becomes defective and ends up shooting the shooter…

Had a bad experience, had a 16 gauge bolt-action shotgun, fired it... nothing, tried again... nothing. Opened the bolt... BLAM... I ended up digging BB's out of my face for a month, luckily they missed my eye.

Will post a pic of the shell as soon as I figure out how to.

Firearms are illegal in Withmore City. The existing firearms got into the city some way. There's where you get the meaning of the size into the price.

You can fit more pistols on a box than shotguns, you can put more pistols under a coat, on a trunk, inside stuffed animals and other kind of shit.

Pistol clips occupy less space than the same number of shotgun shells.

So pistols are easier to get into the city than shotguns and rifles. In the same trip you would get more than twenty pistols while you'd get just a couple of shotguns.

Add to that transportation, hiding places for the gear, the addition of lost stuff (impounded, robbed, etc…) and you'll get a bigger price.

Think of it kinda like sneaking a gun into a rock concert. Knifes and low caliber pistols are waaaaaaaay easier than shotguns and rifles.

I'm not going to debate this, neither are any of the other admin. That's how it is, take it or leave it. First of all, these are tactical military shotguns. Second, the prices are higher because they are highly illegal and very difficult to obtain (same goes for submachine guns). If you're lucky enough to find one to buy (especially where you found it), you really shouldn't be complaining about the price.

I was just trying to figure out why it was the way it was, I wasnt looking to make the prices lower, if I was I would have posted it in ideas. And I also thought that these were shotguns used for goose hunting.

I am not saying I want to go hunt geese. I am saying I thought the shotguns being sold IC would be closely related to the ones used to hunt geese IRL.

But a CP goose hunt could be interesting.

Although the sale IC permit authorized firearms exist; no one cares. Few characters exist which promote such far fetched ideals. Let alone enough to financially and IC'ly support such a concept. Corpies are few and far between. Those who try and become them are often mixers hidden behind curtains. Those few who escape such labels are lonely and are care little for most chummers who do not intrigue.

If you put your mind to it, you can come up with the chy for a shotgun without much difficulty, it just takes some know how. I once had one with a newb just for the intimidation factor ;)
