Block/silence phone calls
Please!

It should be possible to block phone numbers or silence incoming calls while the phone is ringing.

For blocking I do understand it would probably get confusing if people's phones are dipped/sold/end up in other people's hands though.

Have it as an extension to contacts maybe, have it so that you can mark down a contact to block and shows up as blocked in the phone.
It is currently possible to set a phone to vibrate, so it doesn't display any ringing if not held. Not exactly a block feature, but may be what you're looking for.
Good point. I’m more thinking about a way to stop a phone from ringing if you don’t want to talk to the person who’s calling you. It’s frustrating to wait out the time a phone takes to ring if you already know you don’t want to talk.
Is it not possible to hang up the phone while ringing? I've never tested that.
I don’t believe so. You have to answer the phone then hang up from there
So, personal thought: The idea is bad, but with an asterisk. I think, if blocking is a thing, it should be for like, an hour, given the fact that a phone is not an object you'll have forever, these things swap hands like five dollar bills or cigarettes in a homeless shelter. I think the BETTER idea, is to have an "ignore phone" function, where it acts like a middle ground between vibrate and ringing, where it rings a single time, but the caller still sees the connecting lines. Then, when the call attempt is aborted, have like, a beep, or a notification on the receivers end.

It'd prevent someone from trying to call their chummer and being incapable of it because of a reason they might not be able to decipher for weeks. Not everyone wants to fiddle with the admittedly clunky apps feature (I don't even know how it works) just to have a conversation. With phones, it's always important to keep in mind that you're, more likely than not, not the last set of hands it'll be in. I believe, but don't quote me, you can sort of bypass this by dropping the phone, as if I remember correctly, it'll give you a busy signal if it's not in someones hands.

Don't quote me, I'm babby to this.

Ignoring phone calls is a good way to put it. Let it ring once, you see who’s calling then you type “ignore phone” and it’ll stop ringing.
I do kind of picture it being akin to 'ignore tv' in that, even if it rings a single time, you only have an hour before you passively pay attention to it again. While ignore tv isn't related to the topic otherwise, I do love when I start ignoring the television only to be jumpscared by porn puppets after an hour.

Getting jumpscared by phones too is our new future.

It's more like, if you see you're getting a call from someone you don't want to talk to, you *decline* the call.
I think we should have started with call declining as opposed to call blocking, honestly. Would have saved us a traumatizing reminiscence about porn puppets. I don't know, call declining feels like something that makes more sense than call ignoring.

I mean, if someone's blowing up your phone irl there's no way in hell you're ignoring that. I've tried.

I had trouble finding the right word to describe it. Apologies.
Happens to the best of us.
While declining is a good idea, I think even blocking or silencing is worthwhile to consider and could even be paydata in situations where Progias change hands (if there was an app, or a command to show the list of blocked numbers).
