Bounty Hunters

Just thought I;d post this ID befor e I went to sleep and forgot:

There should be a system for legitimate bounty hunting.
When a person has fines that become overdue,  Bounty hunters could be alerted by a database of some sorts (Bounty hunter like tac-comp?) and they could in turn with legal authority execute that person for the fee of half the owed chyen. I dunno, could be interesting. You'd also have to buy a permit for a firearm (if that's your style) and a Bounty Hunter license.

there is a bounty hunter terminal in game. look around. and there's even names in it now.
Oh, I know about that. But it is not the same system.
well, the bounty hunter cards and firearm license would be cool, too. maybe it could be tied in…
In Cowboy Bebop there's a tv channel for bounty hunting…

…and Shatter. Temp cops bid on cases, whoever wins gets to go catch the crim for a reward.

This would make Law enforcement in the mix that much more interesting.
I agree with Biohazard, I think this is a great idea. If you made the system a little more organized, you could then make it so that every criminal who had a fine overdue would then be put into this database, where all "bounty hunters" who bought a license could then see what you were fined for, etc, etc. Might mean less crime because if you dont pay it off that not only means the WJF is after you, but your fellow citizens.
Really there should be two terminals then, one for unnoficial bounties, the other one bounties issued by the WJF for fines and whatnot.  Two reasons I say two terminals.  One, because you don't wanna mix up the good hits an the bad, cuz for the citizen bounties, it's still breaking the law.  The other reason is because the WJF term would simply require their eye as well, taking out the human element would make many more citizens bounty hunt because they wouldn't hafta go up to the Hall of Justice or even Gold for that matter, and risk fines or judgement on themselves.
As an aside, might I also suggest adding randomly spawned NPCs to the list of bounties in the existing system, allowing players another addition to the existing job system that may prove lucrative in some cases, damned right deadly in others?  I only suggest this because there are only so many PCs that can take on Aikao :-P

Grim

Its been done before, and it won't be done again. Bounties on players will go up as the WJF issues them and will be at the bounty terminal we have.

I have no desire to make the system better and more organized because when Chaos issued some bounties on NPCs to get some players some money and most importantly for more RP, players went around killing them without doing ANY investigation and they did it while NO admin were around in situations where they would have been easily killed.

Most importantly, they killed NPCs whose names they didn't know. How can you kill a target if you don't know them? The Bounty terminal does not have visual help and is actually a bit of a low-tech setup… it was meant to be that way to instill an RP part to the whole deal.

Admin weren't happy about that, as it is, only bounties for now will be on players.

Roger that.
I see, well that makes perfect sense then.
Well, I dont mind the low-tech setup at all, it may be a bit good like you mentioned earlier to enhance RP. And about NPC's… I think it is safe to assume that certain NPC's would have bounties(leaders of gangs, etc,) but to post a bounty on tem is probably not a good idea. As I guess we foudn out it leaves too much room for abuse.

I don't see why a bounty hunting system in the WJF would leave room for abuse.  In a lot of the more CP shows, movies, and books you will see there is bounty hunting which is performed on the behalf of the law enforcement, why not Withmore?

As is shameful for me to say it, I fucked up on that one.  My apologies to those that liked the idea of NPC bounties, which I, although not alone, but nonetheless put into motion by me, exploited.  Not normally like me, but boredom fucks with a person's head every now and then.  As I'm sure it makes no difference, the NPC bounty idea was indeed a good idea.  But figuring that I fucked it up something decent with my late night OOC boredom, I gotta give my apologies.

Meh, game on.

Meh, don't be so dramatic :P  We've all gotten those wakeups in the void for one reason or another, I do believe it's been twice I've gone and shot up some NPC's for a particular reason when my char had no inclination or idea who this guy was.  In one instance heh, it was us both :P
Word of mouth seems to work better in certain scenarios. That is all. :)
legal bounties were the idea.
Word of mouth=probably not sanctioned=probably not legal.

err…correction, the origional idea was meant to better enforce the overdue fines by automatically placing a bounty on the person once the fine was overdue.

MORE INCENTIVE TO PAY UP CHUMMERZ
