Car specs

It would be cool if cars had specs to match with them. It would make for good boasting about your ride, and better help mechanics/street racers/ etc. I know these arent high demand right now, but it dosn't really require codeing until people are actually detailing their rides and raceing and such.

example:
2089 hondamitsu Mono
1.6 Single overhead cam 4 cyclinder engine making 105 hp and 110 lbs torque.

2089 Hondamitsu Duo
2.0 Dual overhead cam 4 cylinder engine making 175 hp and 150 lbs torque.

You don't really have to know much about cars to make up numbers and implement them way down the line.   You could also add other tidbits like 1/4 mile times and shit too.

Sorry, I've been looking at too many sports cars lately.

Hmmm.  What if somebody wrote up the specs you talked about, submitted them for approval and then made flyers/Brochures to be given out at the Various auto places. (I can think of two right off the top of my head)  They would have to be gearheads and have a little imagination.  A player could do it just to save GMs the time of looking up the terms and writing out the descriptions.

Know anybody like that?

Fuel economy would be another good detail to include.
I.E. 60 km/ per gallon.

0-60 speeds.

1/4 mile speeds.

Rear wheel drive, all-wheel drive, front wheel drive?

Just some basic information on the cars would be nice, so that a player could buy the right one (Economy, sport compact, etc)

Realistically, there are options when buying a car. You can get different interiors colors and materials, different engine and transmissions, and different sport packages and options.  So if you get that, your horsepower changes. So with that said any modifications you ask for is going to change horsepower, torque, 1/4 mile speeds, etc, etc. So if you were to really want this, car makers would make it appear as if there cars were the fastest, they would add every sport option and package to make it faster, so those options would need to be available in order to make this a bit more realistic.
Who cares about scpecs? It just has to look like it's expensive as hell and the chicks will rain on the passenger's seat. ;)

I do.

Well, I have been wanting a convertible, I think that would be cool. I mean, a verb to 'open top' and 'close top' and the only difference would be the description and you could see who is inside the vehicle.
Salv, with open air vehicles you would have to implement away for them to be shot at or have something thrown at them while they were inside, from outside.

Same concept as bikes. Same problem with why they're not here yet.

I know, which is why I aint posting that as an Idea. I just think that one day that would be cool.
I'm still waiting for players and vehicles in the game to start sounding like they are in a cyberpunk theme…
I -was- going to suggest armored vehicles and side-mounted machine guns, would that fit the theme?
Vehicles need license plate tags as well. If they aren't customized, random ones should be added to all cars. All the plates should be registered in a database, so that say, if the WJF, or some l337 hax0r, wants to check on who is driving a particular vehicle, they can just type in the license plate on their Tac-comp, or Ask ops, and you get your info.
