Some ideas came to me, and they seem pretty easy to implement….
Belt light, a belt that has a flashlight. you can wear it and turn it to on/off
Gun light you just strap it over or under you gun's barrel, being able to turn it on/off and attaching/removing to the gun.
head light similar to the belt one but this is worn in a strap over your head or helmet, just like those guys that go into caves do.
with those you can have both hands free to drag a corpse, fight big bad mofos and whatever under dark situations.

I don't see that much of a disadvantage, really. If you need to do something that requires both hands, you can just set it on the ground. Or, buy thermo goggles.
What *would* be interesting though, would be one-use, limited-duration light sources like flares, that you could use to light an area up temporarily by carrying them around (like a flashlight) or by dropping them around the place.

I actually found a character sleeping on the streets named Lara Croft. Had one of those semi-decent-newbie descriptions, but...ugh. Was still horrible.
But never fear - she's gone. Sindome is safe aga-....er, well not really. But Croft-free.
