Live Long and Prosper

Yea, i know death is supposed to be part of life in Withmore.
Yea, i hold no power in dictating what a GM should be doing with his/her time.

But, out of curiosity, what would you all think of keeping old characters instead of killing them off dramatically when you get sick of them? Putting them and their future escapades in the hands of our wonderful game staff, and watching them become NPCs?

There are plenty of minuses to this idea, but I also think it might be fun for the GMs and, if nothing else, give the city more of a tangible populace.

And continuity. Lack of continuity is a big thing, in my eyes. Maybe I'll rant on about that later.

Dum dee dum.
'Nite.

if murph is so disinterested in his charcter, maybe he should do just that… (not to read into what you said murph, just my interpertation)

in any case that is a good Idea I think.

and maybe you should be able to give up your charcter to create a new one, but just put your old one in the void?  you could only have one living usable charcter at a time, but it could be there to aliveate a sense of loss or something, and maybe you could play it once in a while and void or perm your other charcter, but only if you could be adult, and IC about it (yeah right like that would happen, never mind that last part)

whoa? um did i miss something? i saw lena's post and jotun.. where does murphy fall into this?
you obviously haven't read (or don't recall) some of the recent posts on this board, there was another section recently where he was saying his charcter's life has been limiting and boreing (not a direct quote please correct me if I misconstrued the meaning murph)

in any case(just to clarify) it was not meant to be offensive to murph in any way, just relating one of his previous posts to this one.

Personally, I don't think I could do justice to a lot of the characters portrayed by you all. They have little things that are you that we just wouldn't do.
I completely agree with Johnny.

As 'nice' as it might be, there is NO FRAGING WAY I, or any of the GM's could do their personalities justice, let alone their idosyncracies.

Besides, I'de have to immagine the 'former owner' would be pretty pissed when they met their 'former character'… I know I'de be compeled to point out every trait they were screwing up or ignoring or forgetting.

Good idea and all, but simply not workable I'm afraid.

Even with that… each GM has their own 'style' of GMing. In order to play a char like that, you'd have to assign one GM to it, and keep it that way.

I know I once tried having NPCs that were played like PCs... didn't work, because no one else could play it the way that the original person meant it to be.

PCs should remain PCs... or cold-freeze them. Or something.

KILL EM ALL!

If you -want- to quit SD (even temporarily), why not think of an IC way to leave?  There -is- an airport, y'know.

If you -don't- want to leave, then do everything in your character's power to NOT get banished/killed/cryogenically frozen.  :P

Oh oh oh!  I gots an idea.  Why not put some code in place at the airport where you can buy an airplane ticket to some place and then basically it just takes you to an ooc room where your player stay until you want to come back to the game.  Maybe a few hundred for a ticket.  Maybe limit the time that the person is away to avoid abuse as just a way escape something.  And maybe they have to still wait for the plane after they get the ticket.
I got an even better idea. How about we don't waste x^20 weeks coding such a thing and the few people that want to fly out can xhelp saying such and we can *GASPS* R-fucking-P it!
Damn, you don't need to be such an asshole about….oh, yeah.  Yes you do. :) :aug:
