I'd like a map of the city. It doesn't have to be pretty, but something with street names and the mag-level and express tubes on them.

And I'd like to see it on the website somewhere.
You can have players be given a map IC upon arrival. Put it in the help newbie section of the help files and have a link to the website.

With it being on the website they can access it continually each time the they need to.

Maybe if someone were really ambitious at some point it could work like the quickterms and you'd see:

Johnny takes his map of Withmore out of his pocket and unfolds it.

Johnny looks over his map of Withmore, searching it for something. He stands out like a tourist.

Johnny fumbles and somehow manages to fold his map, but never the way it should be, �before he puts it away.

All while Johnny was:

hold map

use map

stash map

and also clicking on the website link.

Cool? Yes, I am.

On a side note, I'm amazed I've almost got a hundred posts. Do I get a pressie? No probably not.

I have Red, Gold and Green completely mapped in an Excel spreadsheet if anyone wants it ? (Express tubes, Buildings and Mag-levs, etc etc.)

Save you 5 minutes or something.

That'd be cool :), I have them as well but I still haven't had the time to draw them computer-wise and my pencil drawn version is starting to get all fuzzy looking and so. :P

I drew a beautiful map of every sector with all the buildings (except blue) and all the sewers as soon as I got to Withmore. =P

Of course my character happens to love exploring and knowing places, but anyhow, drawing a map works well.  It learned me so well that when Tylissa's gone someday and I make a new character, I'll probably have a hard time remembering to forget where things are! Hehe…

Plus, with SIC don't forget you can always type 'map.'  Sure, it may not be perfect but it does have express tubes and the basic layout of the streets.  Still, it'd be neat to have maps, but there are probably better things to do with the coding time.

There are outdated maps both in the game and on the website.

If someone wants to do up some nice artist-like maps, I'll gladly make them part of the IC world.

Something from the character POV would indeed be swank.

Please remember that any maps are IC information and if you use a map when you ICly have no business having it or the map is OOC, you're ruining the mystery that is the game.

Surprise and the unknown are fun, please remember that.

A wise and vital point Johnny did make there, I shall promptly commit Seppuku.

To clear up any misunderstanding from my previous post.

I was merely offering help to any fellow SD player that was actual thinking of developing some mad map for the web page or nlm term.

I'd do it myself but I'd never finish it and I would probably make some glaring obvious spelling mistake that would be pointed out to newbie domer's for years to come.

Anyone else can do what most people do and that's brave the stabbings, shootings and white rabbits and find all these bloody places for themselves.

But Johnny's final comment…. I assume it doesn't extend to my cat that I'm sure was very suprised when it found itself promptly splatted on the front bumper of a black BMW it didn't know was there.

On a related note, is there any way to find out what the WJF, WHJ, WCS and various SD corp logos  look like?

I might try my hand at making some nice, themely maps, but if I do I want to make them look like promo materials or whatnot.

And the logos for the corps aren't -final- so I'm not going to release them.

Yeah, I did the paper/computer map thing too until I just realised…sadly...I had it all memorised. I can walk through most of the levels without even thinking about it now, just by typing directionals and go/sneak.


But it would have been helpful way back in the end of September when I started if there were a map that were available, aside from the shoddy SIC one.

As for the website map that exists, I've never seen it - obviously given the nature of this topic. Is it any good?
What's the url for it?
