Most archetypes have some dedicated jobs (in the mix) for you to get your hands dirty in a way that teaches you about and allows you to utilize your character's main archetype. There are a few ones that don't (I'd love more decking-related jobs mixside, but there's already one that makes use of one've the decking/compsci skills and it's got some pretty fun tech access. thievery comes to mind, but for obvious reasons, you make money by stealing. maybe forensics as a Main skill), but rigging especially does not lend itself as well as some other archetypes do to gig work.
There is also currently a staggering price jump between the baby-tier and the next tier of bots (which can actually hold objects, engage in combat, etc.), and for aspiring riggers (or, really, most players who are regularly spending chyen), these tiers are often prohibitively expensive and offer very little in terms of returns. Much like how cab drivers and AV pilots don't have to pay for their work vehicles, but are left on the hook if they end up damaged or altered, I feel like offering a place for aspiring riggers to have hands-on-experience with these more expensive models without having to go corporate would help a lot to make the archetype feel more fulfilling. And I -want- to see these expensive robots in action more often! I think they're incredibly cool and have incredibly interesting coded systems I'd love to let see the light of day more. I genuinely love the rigging skill and I love when other people love it.
Example job ideas I've seen in other threads that I agree would be fun ideas:
- TERRA robodog operators
- Remote cleaners for WCS (or maybe even fancy little 3LP robot cleaner-bots)
- There's a robotics plant on Red in game that could be PERFECT for mixside bot technicians and operators.
