Notification System for Staff
To better spread information and expectations.

A system that allows a staff member to cause a message to appear the next time a character is logged into the moo. The idea is to broadcast information in game in a way that will get on every player's screen without fail.

Some players don't read the BgBB and I don't think it should be required. Staff shouts or messages on chat channels only reach those currently online and if it's on a channel, those on the channel at the time or the few who @rewind or use the discord channel. I think something like this would be a great way of ensuring all players receive important messages from staff.

As an example of how this could work:

AS STAFF:

Staffer enters the command: @global-notify

Staffer is then prompted to enter the message as one might with a note.

Staffer is presented with the message they just entered and asked if they are sure.

Staffer verifies the message and confirms.

The system is now set so that the next time anyone logs into the moo they are presented with this message.

AS PLAYERS:

I log in like normal.

The message is displayed on my screen.

I am asked if I have read the message and have to confirm before I can do anything else in the game.

Once I confirm I will never see the message again.

OPTIONAL:

The message is logged along with a list of all characters that confirmed reading it.

I think we have a message of the day function but it's just been that bright yellow rules enforcement thing for a while.
Doing this for important shouts alone would be a great benefit for everyone who isn't on at the time. While we maybe all don't need help chastity reminders we're offline for, rules clarifications, notices not to do X for now or X is disabled for now while bug testing or fixing is going on, etc, etc, would be vital.
Somewhat recently there was a staff shout that an entire section of the game was like somewhat broken and that players probably should avoid it for the time being. That's definitely the type of message that would benefit from this system where every player sees it, at least until the fixes are done.
I imagine that messages could be queued and shown in order upon log in. Maybe a command for staff to see currently set messages and remover those that no longer need to be displayed. Maybe a timer could be added when creating the message.

A lot of possibilities really. I just wanted to outline a simple example really!

Or course, while not as robust as what I was thinking, even the existing MOTD feature Reefer mentioned could be a huge help.

It's possible this could be used not only for OOC messaging but also IC stuff, like telling you things your character probably should have noticed happening while you were logged out. Major events like natural disasters or disease outbreaks probably wouldn't go unnoticed by characters, even if the players aren't online at the time. Just an idea though.
