I don't know how hard it would be to code this, but how about if we are inside somewhere (say, the Drome) and we look in a direction that is outside (say, north) we can see what the weather is like. So, you look north from the Drome and it's raining out, so you pull your coat or jacket on before running outside. Not a big deal, but could add some realism.

That would be more real. But it seems to me that it's usually raining around here.

Its now possible to see what the weather is like outside.
Additionally, weather will now have an affect on the ambient population. This means that when its bad weather outside, there will be less people out. Weather will also have an effect on how fast you can move between places now.

Its kinda silly, but could there be a message outside when the rain stops or maybe it starts snowing?

Yeah like when it stopd raining like it would say that the sun comes out and begins shining to soak up the rain and other liquid matter layed about the streets.
*shrugs*
Just a thought.

It would be neat if there was a dedicated "Weather Channel." That way you would be able to decide appropriate clothing before heading out onto the street…

It sounds like a great idea, but I dont knwo of many people who would change their attire for more than a coat if they knew the weather outside.

Actually I think women would wear pants as opposed to dresses or skirts and me can wear long sleeve shirts or sweaters if they have clothing like that in the game (I never looked). Also it would make people that don't have coats go out and buy them and if long sleeve shirts and sweaters arn't in the game we could use some taylors to make them bringing more jobs.

Sweaters in cyberpunk….sounds FANTASTIC.
This is actually a very minor thing but it would have some benifits for RP.

How about sweater-vests and bow ties? Now there's good times. Put on that EcoGear parka when it starts snowing. I was musing about having frostbite kick in the other day. If you're out and not wearing the right clothes… bad things. Which sounds interesting, until I start thinking about the effects on gameplay and code required. *rambles*

I think people would much rather wear a leather coat/trenchcoat which does exist rather than get a sweater that looks like something given to you by that Aunt you could swear was a man until a year ago.

It would be amusing to have things go haywire for a while and have a blizzard in the city, complete with frostbite.

Whoa whoa … this was about a TV channel with a preferably topless female weather announcer, not your aunt's sex change(??)

A snow storm would be cool, make it impossible to drive a car, unless you have really good skill. And walking around would be really hard, it would take forever to get there and stuff, sounds like fun.

Coats are nice things to have but the whole idea of a sweater is for the people that can't afford a real coat and I'm not talking about sweater vests and bow ties, just something made of heavier fabric that can resemble a sweater or sweat shirt.

As far as I understand, sweaters are not officially -banned- in Sindome, meaning that you could actually walk down Fuller in a sweater, and naturally you can ask someone to make one for you (but why would you want to??). Sweaters are for mr. rogers that nightmarish freak from our 80s childhoods.

Kevin from Sin City, anyone?

Getting back to what I can see might have been the original topic…
Looking out a window / doorway will tell you what the weather is like. Not necessarily how the weather will be, but what it's like at that precise moment in time.
So perhaps you will get to the door of New Rose and say "Ohnoes I'll need to wear another pair of pants" and then head back to yr cube (if'n yr window's boarded up n'all) - but…
The weather went really screwy for a bit, a while back… lots of snow and rain and ice and lots of really cool RP and people's look_places set to "dripping" and collars turned up and all. Not sure if that affected things like driving (I'm inclined to think walking may have been affected...?), but it made for an awesome ambience - and I did notice people wearing different things because of the weather messages...
(Not sure if it still is 'screwy', not sure if it's set to being a Withmore City winter (argh it's currently 90F here at 8pm), but yeah. That's how it was, last time I was playing more than once a week.)
Also, Xee: Annie, not Mary Poppins.

Well I wasn't suggesting that a weather channel on TV would actually give like 7 day extended forecasts and wind chill factor and the rest of the shit.
But after dishing out for a nice flatscreen TV amongst the rest of a typical corpies gadgets to outfit that nice new apartment, I just figured it would be neat to flick on the TV and get an immediate report of the weather conditions…

It would be cool to see some automated TV scripts that do things of that sort. Like put together a generic script like
'Hello withmore, here's Bobby Boshuckle with todays weather." The camera cuts to a balding man standing in front of a 2D map of the city.
"Thanks Tom, the RED Sector is looking at (insert weather here eg. heavy rain, or snow, or sleet, or high winds, or hurricane katrina), while GOLD is looking at (insert weather here) and for all you commuters GREEN is looking at (insert weather, and as usual, BLUE is looking at clear skys and a sunny 72' degrees. Back to you Tom." The screen fades to commercials.
