I'd like to see rooms where you just cant realisticly hide. Like, oh..I dunno, cube hotel hallways. Cuase It's pretty lame when your in there talkin with someone, with thermos turned on, and stealthy megna ninja can sneak and lift all his stuff with nobody noticeing. Then sneak out. so yeah. Small hallways and stuff.

You ever try hiding in a cube?
Alot of places are already like that. I dunno if hallways should be included. Depends on the hallway, I guess.

on another note… when someone does steal your stuff, and you see them do it, they should be visible.

It's a hallway, on GOLD, its gunna be a decent size, and the main thing, that so is the lobby! Think about that, the lobby. A cube is understandable. But then again, it sure as hell isn't IC to pack 7 people into a cube, and expect to be able to move, let alone shut the door.
I'm all for places being un hideable. But I also think that if you can't hide somewhere, there are places like this IC already. If your upset because uber ninja steals your shit, then maybe you should up your perception.

I'm not really upset becuase uber ninjas steal my shit, I'm just annoyed that, oh, like maybe I'm conversing with someone in the hallways, we both got thermos on, and faceing each other talking, and uber ninja number 60432 jacks mighty bulky shit.

Maybe they were doing Splinter-Cell shit from the ceiling while you were looking at the floor?

If it's bulky, the ninja musta had a hell of a steal skill, and your perception must be shlock in compareson.
But if you do see someone steal from you, they should become unhidden. This much at least will change.

Hmmm. I've seen jaggofs steal from me all the time, yet they are still hidden…
I just think there should be the risk of becoming unhidden when you do actions/poses/ whatever in not to big areas.

Also…
"If it's bulky, the ninja musta had a hell of a steal skill, and your perception must be shlock in compareson. "
I don't really think the solution to people dicking around is to just raise perception. (in certain situations, that is. Like two players conversing, with their sensor equipment on, scanning the room and looking over their shoulders as they talk to each other and someone lifts everything not worn, seen doing it, and stay hidden. However, if someone is just standing around all by themselves...)

You failed to identify what's wrong with that solution, and what a better solution might look like.
There's all kinds of ways besides UE to raise your perception…

I don't think there is a way to fix it. Espciliy when you do a blind steal.
Unless someone is going to go through and change the code, and like add a property to all the objects that aren't stealable.
Like, I could do steal from bob
And I don't know what I'm going to get. If its something crazy like a briefcase, I try to give it back, beacuse I don't see how I could get it away from them.
Then again, I don't see how they have something really -bulky- it in there inventory either, so its IC to think that instead of having it on them, its on the ground -next- to them… The same with other bulky stuff.
I mean, if its not IC for me to steal it, is it really IC to have it hidden on your person?

Rastus had some observations which I think are appropriate to share with the community on this topic and also the
grapple discussion:
Heya, dunno if this interests you at all but it I have some
observations about the current stealth discussion on the BgBB, which
obviously I can't post but may be relevent to what people are
complaining about. They seem to be presuming that stealth is exclusively the art of
hiding, something that couldn't be done in a featureless hallway. The
abstract logic of stealth when I tied it into the ambient population
system was that it wasn't just about hiding, but also the art of
blending in and looking like you belonged there. Stealth could equally
apply to a situation in which you're highly noticable, but manage
yourself in such a way that people don't look at you twice, it's about
blending into the scenery, not necessarily just hiding behind it.
Obviously it could be coded as two seperate skills, but there's no
real benefit in doing that just for the sake of doing it.
Ignore me if it's no real help, I'd post if I could and not bother you
but I figured I'd offer my thoughts anyway. Seems like the players are
too keen to assume the absolute detail of what a specific command does
instead of understanding that a command can cover an abstract number
of similar circumstances and outcomes. Same with the grapple debate,
looks like SDs playerbase is getting bogged down in wanting code to
cover all eventualities instead of utilising coded abstracts and
fleshing out the details with RP…
So, once again, the code supports your RP.
