TAKING A BREAK
We want everyone to enjoy playing the game and feel able to take breaks when needed for health, bleed, family, or whatever reason. We’re introducing
A break is a voluntary step away from Sindome so you can take care of yourself. You may take up to four breaks in any rolling twelve-month period, choosing from 1 to 14 whole days each time. You cannot start a break while in combat, sorry, not sorry. But you can start one when you are awaiting cloning.
The command will explain your options and show the benefits you’ll receive before asking for final confirmation. You can cancel the request before confirming. Once you confirm, your break starts immediately and cannot be cancelled or shortened.
Your character will be removed from the IC world and placed in the void. You will be temporarily locked out of the game and unable to use game-supplied communications, including Discord and the BGBB.
You may choose ONE currently paid apartment or cube registered to you. Its existing rental expiry will be extended by the length of your break PLUS one day, for free. Housing already covered by membership is excluded from that choice. You may decline the extension, and you can still take a break if you have no eligible rental.
If you have an active paid membership, its expiry will be extended by the length of your break. Your currently assigned, paid membership apartment will receive the same extension.
You will receive three UE per selected day up front, subject to the normal total and banked UE caps. Your confirmation will show the actual amount you will receive.
Your job will be retained during your selected break. Job retention and replacement are handled by staff through the normal job-management process.
When your login restriction ends, you will still be in the void. Please xhelp for a quick check-in with an admin. After that check-in, an admin will return you from the void to the exact place where you left the IC world.
If you remain away longer than your selected break, your rental can expire normally, your job may become available to others, and normal reaping rules still apply. Contact staff if you need additional arrangements, including consideration for the no-reap list.
To recap, taking a break will:
If staff request that you take a break and you have none available, let us know, we’ll figure it out.
If you refuse a required break, we may instead temporarily lock your character out and place them in the void without these benefits. We would much rather work with you. When we ask you to step away, it’s because we believe doing so is in your interests and the game’s interests.
You can see your available breaks in your @stats and by typing the @take-a-break command.
I've tested this, but it's new code so if something breaks we'll get it figured out.
