Cellphone browser support

For those of you with HDML enabled cellphones (Sprint PCS & Verizon should both work), the Sindome website now has several cool features.

Access the Sindome cellphone website at:
http://www.sindome.org/00/index.hdml

The following features are available:

  • viewing who's online
  • reading the bitch board*
  • host information

The who list for the phone is a short version that just shows names and idle times. Phone screens are small and showing anything else would get messy.

The bitch board is rather cool because it lets you read the first 9 topics in the player accessible forums, one post at a time. Now, there is a catch… Since there is a limit to the size of a file you can send to a cellphone, only the first 1024 characters of a post (not counting title and author) are viewable on the phone. I realise this may cut some of Nic's and Rastus' posts by 75%, but hey, thats progress, right?

Host information just provides basic host info for those of you that forget.

Future plans:
Posting to the bitch boards
Leaving a message viewable by admin (support reasons)

For those of you with cellphones that have web support, I urge you to try it out, bookmark it, cause ya never know.

FEH!

STICK THAT UP YER 75%, NOODLEBUM.

Well, I went and did it, cellphone users can now start new topics and post replies to existing ones. Additionally, I added navigational commands to let you go to the 'first', 'next', 'previous' and 'last' posts in a topic since you view each one individually (small screen ya know).

I still have to handle non-cellphone friendly html tags that some posts have, but that should be relatively minor for the most part.

Rejoice in our technological prowness or something.
