When I was staying in a beachhouse in Florida a couple years back we had a yard that looked very similar to that, but not because of a hurricane. One day it was perfectly fine, bright and sunny. Then in the afternoon it started getting cloudy and suddenly started hailing like crazy. Hail stops after a few minutes, then wind and rain really kick up. It only lasted about ten minutes then was completely clear again. But while it was still windy, I saw the plastic furniture on the deck lift straight up, and go rocketing off the deck and shattering into a thousand pieces on the house next door.
If only I could've found where my other flipflop went.. though.
