Mirage was suspended from Staff due to interpersonal issues with other staff members. These issues came to a head earlier this Summer, and resulted in the staff voting on a potential suspension of Mirage from Staff. The staff reviewed the evidence collected, including a message from Mirage on the situation where she expressed acknowledgement for overstepping boundaries, discussed a number of different potential timelines for suspension, and a vote was held with multiple options: 1. Perm removal as an admin, 2. 6 months suspension with an opportunity to return, should she desire it, and should certain criteria for the return be met, 3. No suspension.
This vote passed for the 2nd option (6 month suspension), and Mirage was notified of the result and accepted it without issue.
Interpersonal issues happen, and it sucks. Suspensions happen and it sucks. Mirage accepted the suspension without issue. Mirage is entitled to her opinion on what went down, and there is no ill-will between the Staff of Sindome as a whole, and Mirage. I still talk to Mirage. Johnny still talks to Mirage. Mirage, despite not being on staff, sent me a patch for the SQL code she had written which had a few bugs and was causing the e-note / @notes issues. She did not need to do this.
Neither myself, Johnny, or Mirage is interested in there being more drama around this.
I pushed for us to not announce Mirage leaving staff, because as always, I feel that suspending someone from Staff (or on the player side) and announcing it, would taint some people's opinion of Mirage and inflame the situation further, and I don't think she deserves that.
There is no doubt about the positive impact Mirage had as a coder. Lots of new systems, really cool advances in our code, being a driving force behind getting us to ToastStunt, and more.
However, we also have to weigh those contributions against the health of the admin team as a whole. It wasn't an easy decision for any of us to make. Hopefully this provides some amount of clarity on the situation, as a unified statement not just from me, but also from Mirage, and puts this to bed so everyone involved, and the community can move forward.
