Guided Discussion 7/11 @ 2PM DST.
Topside crime and better conflicts for all.

After the results of the poll, we'll have a Guided Discussion on Saturday, 7/11/2026 @ 2PM Dome Time (that's pacific time for everyone who doesn't know).

Our overall topic up for talk is topside crime and corporate citizen play: how to make better conflicts for everyone involved. Our discussion will last hopefully from 2-4PM. You'll be able to switch to or join the guided-discussion channel when I open it up at 2PM.

RP will continue during this time throughout the game, it won't be stopped. This is an optional discussion, if you don't want to join there's no need or requirement. But please be aware there might be less staff responsiveness to puppet-requests or xhelps during this time.

The main talking points I want to see us tackle are the following:

What are people hoping to get out of topside crime?

What would make committing topside crime a better experience for criminals?

What type of experience are people hoping to give -others- when doing topside crime?

For corporate citizens, past or present, what makes being the victim or the target of a topside crime appealing to you?

For both people doing and the victim of topside crimes, past or present, where can we as a community improve creating a better experience for the people we target with topside crimes?

We'll end the discussion with a miscellaneous portion to cover ground on areas we may have missed in the original topics, were thought of during discussion, or that people felt might've been glossed over or missed during our talk.

Super excited!

Do you have any advice for making the discussion go as smoothly as possible? Would you like us to plan out our comments in advance?
Be respectful of other people's opinions and don't talk over each other. If it's something that would fit better in one of the other topics later on in the chat, save it for then.

Just really your basic treat people how you want to be treated type of rules.
Personal opinion on how we should approach discussions like this. Not an admin directive or anything:

If you have strong opinions or ideas, I would recommend spending a few writing out some bullets or full talking point messages, with this criteria:

- ensuring that they don't contain IC info
- ensuring they dont reveal who you play
- are generally applicable
- is not a gripe / jab at someone else

Nothing loses an audience faster than hearing a potentially good point that is spoiled by it seemingly like it's coming from a place of anger or self benefit. For example, if you recently were the victim of a topside crime and you are pissed or upset about it, instead of focusing on how you were wronged OOCly and didn't get rp or whatever, recognize that these things happen and focus your comments on constructive things that you would like to see in the future that would increase your fun.

Apply the above advice broadly and try to take yourself out of the situation and talk about what would be beneficial to everyone and not just your character.

Also keep in mind that there is a lot of risk being assumed by the person committing the crime, and that they can't always stop and RP a bunch while your backup/judges/corpsec/whoever arrives at the scene. Let's empathize and look at all sides of this and not just our own.
