I know alot of things have been implented or even coded yet. But we all need to do to liven the place up and get some serious RP out. Ideas and plots would be nice if some was thrown out. This way we will intice newbies to stay around.
I would like to see something serious going on. I am up to anything, within reason of my character's skills.
Post anyone?

Heh, all I have to say is that I think people believe you need Admin support for EVERYTHING in RP… totally untrue. You don't always need to wait for admins, or need them to do things, set up a basis for an RP, and go with it. I am hopefully gonna get one going soon, we shall see....

Luc's right, you don't need admin to make good RP. The best RP comes from player initiated stuff, because it's all spontaneous.
Start something. Make up a plan, get suitable characters involved and go for it. Or don't make a plan, get just anyone, and see if you can make it or not. This doesn't have to be a raid on a corp, hehe. And if you have requests of Admin to help out that's cool.
Some advice:
Don't make every admin request 'gear'. You don't just 'get' gear/chyen. You gotta earn it, and we don't need -your- chyen. ;)
Keep within your bounds. Don't assume actions of other players or organizations. If <person> or <organization> didn't take such actions, don't act for them. If you're spreading rumors that's one thing, playing as fact is another.
Expect consequences, not that i want to deter you, consequences make it fun.
Yes there are things uncoded and in order to make use of those skills, you may need admin assistants. Ask and we'll say no. (j/k) But I personally am more than willing to observe any RP, but don't expect cash and prizes in trade for RP. :)
Have fun guys/gals.

On another note… to add effects to your RP... consider those millions of people... doing what? Nothing.
Pull them into your RP. Use them in your emotes and poses, give em names, etc. Fights, deals, etc. You can get the RP going without having admin create a somewhat pointless NPC...
Just a thought.

I would love to see gang wars. No I am not blood thristy as one told me. Medics running out in the ambulance to pick up the injured. Security teams help attack the attackers. Some nice socializing would be helpful. Man I would love to see some ideas going.
Wanna keep sindome alive? RP DAMNIT! No more hiding in the apartments. Come out and RP!
*clears her throat* I said my peace.

First of all, that would be awesome. Second you guys need to stop doing all the same crap you always do and start forming into groups or a group of you join a business or something. I remember that back in the days of SS there was a hell of a lot more RP than there is now. I really think you guys need to stop being loners and get a job. Then you'd have more things to do, and a strong basis for RP. Plus, it would keep people interactive and spawn other rp as you get to know them better.

Nic is your character into getting a gang started? It would be cool.
Thing is newbies do not stand a chance of killing who has been there awhile such as Devon, Lucifer, Casey.
Why cause their stats would suck compared to theirs.
I seen 13 online tonight and out of 13 I seen Raynor, Lucifer, Gally, Quay out. Where was the rest of you?
RP does not include only socializing, but alot of things. Yes even player killing! I know my character is a whimp but I rp her to be a whimp. Fighting is not everything.
Hardcore gangs would be nice. Even thieves, net runners who might sell information to who ever, socialized people. cyberdocs, medics, Security teamers, Cops, judges.
Thing is I would love to get into some heavy RP. Thing is everyone is afraid obivously to get out and RP! They hide in their apartments/cubes you name it. Javatrix is not the only hang out, though it is nice.
Get out lets all RP! Stop hiding!

All we really need is someone who can lead a gang. Im sure there are a few of you who would do it. And nic, i am surprised you won't considering you have experience in it. But whoever does, needs to start recruiting the newbies so they aren't left out

I've tried the gang thing before actually… didn't work, at all. There is too much dependacy on things not coded yet, that, and our lack of active players... where you could try it, it may not work... maybe someone will set something up soon though.

Another thing you could try is getting some people back in the Casino and get that back together if they will let you. You could start something like KPZ or get some east side west side red going on. Plus it would give medics like Sirius and Ruby(if she comes back) a job.

Not to be lame or complain.
I do know if things got going and things started coding as we need it your going to attrack alot of new comers and alot of rp'ers.
I know on else moos that people sit around complain how boring things are. Hell gangs are popping up all the time, corps are going after gang war fare. Peeople going around trying to stop corps, trying to out do the other, trying to kill the gang members.
Hell even my character was involed in a gang. You know what? It was the best RP I had in a long time!
So once again I ask the admin to see if they can code things as we need it if time permits. If not no biggy. We can rp it out until it does get coded.
There is money out there in the game. You just got to know where to get it at. Hell you can start your own corp. Your own buisness, You can be come a crooked cop and work under the table without anyone knowing it. Have a good corp as a cover but be like the mafia behind it.
I am willing to do any thing. Hell even get a new character if need be. I am excited about the idea of all this. We just need to implent getting things going.
Your sweet and very sexy Cyberdoc.

ARF!
And on a non-canine note, RP is good.
Whenever I'm available I'll happily tinker along with anything that's going on, how-ever, I have a couple of inky dinky guidelines to add to Stones suggestions…
Firstly, be aware that the Sindome world is carefully constructed and monitored for theme continuity. There's nothing worse than having to step on a player created plot because they've chosen to 'create' something that doesn't fit into the theme in the slightest. There is a shit load to do around your character and other players, try to avoid creating huge corporations, criminal syndicates and amazing technologies as props for your RP -unless- you are sure they are supported and approved by admin. By all means set up your own criminal syndicate, huge corporation, baseball team, nursery group, but do -not- create VAST NPC powergroups without getting some admin support on the matter. It diddles with the details already in place and often leaves us with little choice but to find some IC way to destroy your work.
Do -NOT- use SIC to create NPC's etc of -ANY- kind. Your SIC is a -very- IC thing and is ICly attached to your character in many ways, so, when you try to create a group of NPC's chatting on the SIC, what you're actually ICly creating is the impression of a fruit and nut case who rapidly changes his SIC ID and talks bullshit to himself. It looks -really- silly to the various deckers monitoring the SIC-nodes...
As with Stone, I really -really- don't want to discourage RP, I'm just advising the use of a little common sense.
I'm sure I had another point to make, but it's slipped away...

How anonymous do you want to be? The SIC is very anonymous, but hackers -can- identify the user. Radio's are about the only thing more anonymous than the SIC, but your audience will be far smaller.

I don't mean to be a stick in the mud, but if WJF players are going to start assuming that when i switch SIC aliases they can track me without having an IC WJF hacker do the work, I will get a little bit mad. I'd concider it unfair…I would have no problem at all if an admin was RPing WJF Ops and played it out, but a player just going on it...I'd feel a little more than cheated.

As far as starting gangs goes, how many people can you find that it'd be IC to do so? Don't do things -just- to start RP.
Gally could -never- be a gang member, she's way to independent, half the reason she started GRS was because she didn't want to work for anyone else. But in doing so, she knows where everything in the dome is, she's met a -TON- of contacts, puppeted and played, and has gained a lot of peoples trust.
your RP doesn't have to have a beginning and an end, it's as simple as creating activity. Nic makes clothing, now of course you could do it yourself but what makes you go to Nic?? Cuz he's creative with the clothing, and it creates interaction. You don't need to go to him, but the chance to interact pulls you to him.
Gangs require a playerbase (in my opinion), You can't make a gang with 2 people. Then it's just a duo…
And I've seen A LOT of people come through wanting to play the info game, which is cool. it's an aspect that is hard to get into, you gotta get a lot of contacts which also requires a playerbase.
What Would your Character Do? (WWCD)
I bet by being introspective you can come up with some stuff that don't need code.
Do something unique. Yer in a city of millions, what would a city this size have? What kinds of things from the past would carry through the ages? modify them to fit now?
And know that the admin are still playin plots. Gally had a strange fit in the 'trix the other day...but it won't all be thrown at you all at once. Anyway, enough of me...i'm DONE! (for now)

Hrmmm.. welp.. trying to snag newbies is a good thing.. I'm suggesting we create a Guest/Newbie Patrol of OOC nature.. so that we might help newbies through the hard part of becoming a thriving member of the MOO… it will serve two purposes, introduce the Newbie to seasoned/regular chars in the Dome, and allow them access to a vast store of OOC knowledge they won't necessarily have to obtain via trudging through the newbie guide and getting eyestrain. I'm still thankful to this day that Gally had the time and patience to walk me around the Dome and show me things.
So I say this.
Help a Newbie! Show them you care!

Hey stone I do believe this is general discussion so adding a little idea that might help newbie's and is not in affect or actual help to them would do little help in the Newbie help section right?
Anyways, I like Tanka's idea, I was a newbie 3 or 4 times (as hard as that is to believe, just ask luc how big of a pain i was) who wants to read through all of that, gets boring, much like long posts on this board. But having vets training newbie's a little good idea

Im sitting here nursing a toxic overdose of paint fumes and bad calamari and I thought Id resurrect this ancient, dust covered thread out of the mists of time.
*anoints its feet and sends it on its way*
And add a list of the 36 most common skeleton themes in storytelling, as well as a link to a forum that has a few gems at gamedev.net http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/topic.asp?topic_id=25047 AND leading from that theres a link I think everyone should follow.
Oh bugger it; Ill just post it here as well. http://www.io.com/~sjohn/plots.htm :-D
the list-
1. Supplication - awaiting an authority's decision.
2. Deliverance
3. Crime followed by vengeance
4. Vengeance taken - kindred upon kindred
5. Pursuit
6. Disaster
7. Falling prey to cruelty or misfortune
8. Revolt
9. Daring Enterprise
10. Abduction
11. The Enigma- a search for an answer
12. Achieving goals
13. Hostility of kinsmen
14. Competition with kinsmen
15. Murderous adultery
16. Madness
17. Fatal lack of judgment
18. Involuntary crimes of passion
19. Slaying of a kinsman - unrecognized
20. Self-sacrificing for an ideal
21. Self-sacrifice for kindred
22. All sacrificed for a passion
23. Necessity of sacrificing loved ones
24. Rivalry of superior and inferior
25. Adultery
26. Premeditated crimes of passion
27. Discovery of the dishonour of a loved one
28. Obstacles to love
29. An enemy - loved
30. Ambition
31. Conflict with a god-or perhaps a high authority
32. Mistaken jealousy
33. Flawed judgment Non fatal
34. Remorse
35. Recovery of a lost one
36. Loss of loved ones
NONE of this is just for GMs. Its for anyone having a hard time with creating a history, or finding something to do when theres no one around, or needing to find reasons for their characters actions, or wanting to take that RP and uhm kick it up a notch *shoots emeril for ruining that phrase*
