Alright just a short bitch.  I was told OOC today about the sniper being out earlier in the day.  You'd figure that something like that would be all over the WJF.  NOPE.
I haven't heard word one about it,  nothing on our posting board nothing by word of mouth.  The Sniper is supposidly priority one for the WJF and it gets forgotten withen a day?  No record of it, no heads up by from a fellow officer about it?  Nothing on the NLM?  Im sorry but it seems that everytime something ahppens envolving the WJF and there isn't a PC Judge on then we get no word about it.  I understand that maybe it's because i haven't been on as much and at the same time as i used to be, but something that impacts the Dome on a whole (like the sniper) should be told to every Judge, or at least posted somewhere that we would have access to it.
it's not just wjf it's like every week we gotta new criminal, and the last one fades away…you guys remember Burn-X, how bout the russian chopper....is everyone sure Devon is gone?  what happened to sath...in a few weeks the sniper will be all but dead too

We all need to chip in to find thse criminals and bring them to justice...not the right way...the RED WAY!!!!

You know, I suspect the Sniper was -meant- to be forgotten. The admins say they used the sniper to test out long range weapons, right? Well, on the NLM it mentioned (In the Q1 in review) about how Nixon found some shells or something, and saw someone leaving the crime scene, and the case is closed. Something like that. Well, Nixon is an NPC, the sniper was a test…so, I don't think he was ever meant to be caught, maybe the testing is over. I dunno, just a thought.

Naw the sniper is supposed to be caught i belive.  But it would be alot easier if there was some clue that he left behind.  I mean i saw that Nixon had found a shell casing but i searched the roofs of Red for days, and found nothing.
Haha, I find that funny when you were one of the ones bitching about people bitching about IC things OOC.
Once again… things develop into an OOCness...

Yes, I'd admit that some things should be catalouged a bit more at WJF... but then again, you've got to remember a few things.

One: Street Judges respond and Judge...
Two: I know that there have been plenty of instances where the sniper has been mentioned.
Three: Catalogue it yourself... the PC Judges should be catalouging long term stuff as well.
Four: Street Judges aren't Detectives.

More and more and more. In any case... there are reasons behind most of the RPs... and when they disappear... it leaves a mystery. Thats -WHY- we don't want OOCness, you ruin the mystery. So one day ifBetty Sue goes walking down the street and she gets gunned down by a gunship, you may remember... HEY!!! I REMEMBER THAT!!

Keep it real... keep it IC.

Four: Street Judges aren't Detectives.

You're the GMs and all, but I have to disagree - my character has been =asked= by his superior(s) to investigate certain instances. Whereas, if detective duties weren't part of the position, he'd just walk around, patrol and respond to calls instead of persisting in crimes of particular importance.

CAUTION! Pedantry follows:

detective

n. 1: a police officer who investigates crimes [syn: investigator, tec, police detective] 2: an investigator engaged or employed in obtaining information not easily available to the public
a. Fitted for, or skilled in, detecting; employed in detecting crime or criminals; as, a detective officer

See, we mostly do all that..

See that doesn't make any sense to me at all.  Everything that i've been told by Pratt would make me assume that we are the ones that do the detective work.  But if we are to respond only then hey what the hell,  makes my job easier.  All im saying is it seems like we (PC judges) are encouraged to hold investigations.  We where -TOLD- that we where supposed to catch this sniper,  How?  If we aren't supposed to investigate such a thing, then our responsibility ends when he goes into hiding and it's up to the detectives to find him.  Ahh but with no PC detectives how would that work?  And why when i asked ic'ly was i told that Staff Judge is the next step for a street judge?  Wouldn't detective be under a staff judge?  Well im really confused about all of this.  Let me know what exactically my Job is supposed to be, cause up till now i thought i had it right.
Modern Day Police Force:

Police officer: Apprehend and arrest
Detectives: Investigate
Prosecuter: Presents the case
Jury: decides what the truth is
Judge: Lays the sentence
Executioner: explains itself (if necessary)

2087 Withmore Justice Force:

Street Judge: Apprehend, Arrests, Investigates, reviews case, decides truth, sentences and executes the sentence.

THE ONE Exception is on Red. On Red TERRA does the Aprehending. And Can be a valid Witness to the case.

Wren is partially right, Murph and Alla are mostly right.

There will be more consistency in teh WJF system in the future.

The sniper started out as me being bored one night and deciding to take some potshots at people with an old sniper rifle system Damon started coded maybe a year ago and never completed. I had the generic kicking around ready to convert the code over to an all-encompassing ranged combat system for all firearms. In a fit of boredom I created one and went out to shoot a few people...

Half the time I was in the same location as the people I was shooting... hehe, there were no local messages on any of the commands.

Funny how it's turned into this.

It's not as fun when you're running to the clinic with a new asshole ;P
