Way back there was talk of an admin only gathering, just a chance for the admin to get together, shoot the shit and have a bit of fun. The plan fell through, but has been mentioned once or twice since. It's been vaguely mentioned to one or two players too, just as an aside, but again, nothing ever set up.
I've previously suggested a gathering at Niagara Falls. Cool place, lots to do, semi-central location bearing in mind that a fair chunk of the admin and players here are Canuckian...

Hmmm. Another question: Who all is on the western side of the US/Canada? I'm in Calgary Alberta, and I've got a Ford Tempo that can easily hold 4-5 people. I drive like a mad man, and I am willing to pick people up and bring them along.
I can't afford to fly. Maybe bus if nobody else wants to hop into my ride for a 2500km trip. (We'll make it in 2 days I tell ya!)
I'll try to run some checks together regarding hotel accomodation around Niagara at that time of year, I'll snag a range of prices as best I can (-LOTS- of roach motels and such around there, decent if all yer needing is a bed and board, you rich folk can head for the Ritz. ;) )
But anyhow, I'm scoping out Niagara prices based on the fact no-one seems to have objected or suggested an alternative. I'm still open to suggestions?

Even though I know how much I would love to visit Toronto and hang out with my fellow domers, that weekend of the 25/26 is still completely out for me, I actually expect I'll being flying into Minneapolis from Portland on the 25, to be at school on the 27th. Kinda messed up, gotta love my job though.
August 25/26 2001. Booked. And Rastus, check into campgrounds. Camp grounds are cheap. You can get 5-6 people staying in a campground for the price of one hotel room.
Devi: Looked into busing it up? I hear Greyhound will shuttle you anywhere in the USA for $150.00 or something. THough it is slow. Worse case scenario, take the bus up to Billings or Great Falls Montana, I can swing down and take you the rest of the way. Unless you plan to fly.

I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. anyone east of me, I can grab on the way. I'm willing to swing off course a bit if needed.
The event: Sindome MOObash.
The place: Niagara falls, Canada.
The dates: Officially 25-26th August, 2001.
Specific meeting points, contact numbers and such will be arranged nearer the time through secure channels. Lots of hotels and motels in the area to suit all pockets, if you're going to pre-book, try to get something within a reasonable distance of the falls. No point in being hours away, I suspect there'll be lots of excessive drinking and such...
No formal 'events' arranged as yet. Expect drinking, eating, puking, (fighting? *eyes Chant*), more drinking, (orgies?), more puking. If we get chance, we'll discuss Sindome a little... maybe.
The aim is for a fun gathering and shit shooting session, with drink. Any ideas for stuff to do are welcome, but I suspect Niagara itself will be enough to keep all busy for a couple of days at least.
Anyone wants to travel down earlier than the set days or stay longer, drop me a line, perhaps we can arrange something (I live a couple of hours from Niagara, just outside Toronto). No car tho, so if anyone intends to hire or drive over, I'll trade accomodation before/after the bash for a ride to the bash.

Nicadeamus mentioned he was going to look into camping arrangements and Stonemonk has echoed the idea. All of which threw up an interesting aside… if a few people are planning to camp it'd make a decent late night gathering point. Torch some food over an open fire, chill out and chat. We'll do Niagara during the day and evening, those with the energy can gather at the tents. After that, the faint hearted can retire to hotels if they so choose and the happy campers can crash... The way I figure it, if some people are camping it'd probably be less hassle to gather at a camp site or where-ever than it would for us to gather at someones hotel... since I suspect there could be hassles with a late night gathering of non-guests at a hotel...
But whichever, just a passing thought, as ever, if you've got thoughts brewing, post!

Okay, I -will- indeed be out of military school before the month of August arrives. Gas is $0.70/litre, works out to about, hmmm, $2.90/gallon. If you tag along with the Moo-Bus-Oh-Love (A ford tempo, can seat 4, 5 with a bit of work) I'd just get you to pay like 1/3 of the gas. It'll work out to about $150.00 US both ways. Or so. Give or take.
I went a campsite hunting. Found a KOA on the Canadian side, like 5 miles from the falls, has a pile of 'family' oriented shite to it. Pools, shuffle board, ect. I figure well either get kicked out for drunkeness, or play a lot of shuffle board since there is no sex in the champaign room.
Anyhow, so far, it looks the best. Gonna be $29.00/night for 2 people, +$5.00/person after that. Much cheaper than a hotel. And that is in CANADIAN funds for you US Dollar totting Yanks.
I'll keep looking for a cheaper one though. I figure one or two sites will be way more than enough.

Two of my roommates are DJs, we have hardwood floors, the primary DJ system (2 turntables and a mixer; no, NOT a microphone, 'tards) is connected to the primary house stereo system and it KICKS major assage.
When a DJ is on the tables, it's coming out of two stereo systems and is piped into the bathroom.
We've got a room attached to the garage that can be the 'quiet room' and plenty of parking since I live on one of those 'cul de sacks' or some such. 10 blocks or so from the beach. Front and back yard.
Not to mention a plethora of bars, clubs, and other assorted drinking establishments nearby.

My friend's cousin up in Boston, hes going to be a Senior in college. He lives in an apartment with 13 others, yes, 13 people. The apartment is actually two, with the wall between them taken down, making an awsome party room. Branching from that room are 4 wings, two bedrooms in each. The roof of the first floor extends outwards as well, giving a patio of sorts. Now... heres the killer.
The place is a second floor apartment, underneath it, is a freakin bar. The place is just off campus as well. The main room is always kept nice, and the wings are always trashed. The main room consists of this...
One wall is completly stocked with alcohol... everything possible basically. A huge big screen TV, turntable, wooden floor, etc. The rent on the whole place is about 1500 a month... they make almost all of that in parties. They charge 5 dollars a head and basically get everyone from the bar to come up. Its crazy...

If MOObash 2kwhenever goes down on the west, there's camping grounds about 10 minutes from my house, it's basically my backyard. So, restocking and such can be done easily, though there's a supermarket-style place closer to the camp grounds. To Nixxi or Devi or whoever is going to LA soon, you're only about a 40 minute drive from there. Since a lot of people seem to be located somewhere around California, with the exception of Ras, maybe that could be plan 2. But one way or another, I'll make a special trip up to Canada just to get shit-faced and fuck with Ras. Thoughts? Ideas? Yeah, you get the idea. Peace, don't get lung cancer.

Okidoke, this starts vague since I don't know downtown Toronto too well, it's all main highways tho so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding them...
From Pearson International Airport you want Highway 409, east to Highway 401. I'd image both should be fairly well signposted so look for either and head east on them.
East on 401 to Highway 404.
Head north on Hwy 404. You're heading a fair distance on this one so you can relax and watch the scenery for a while. Infact, you can totally relax, you're following the 404 right to the very end where it hits Davis Drive.
Left onto Davis Drive and follow it into Newmarket. Once in Newmarket turn right at the intersection of Davis and Leslie Street, heading north on Leslie.
Follow Leslie to and through Sharon (town). Just before you leave Sharon turn right at the Leslie/Mount Albert Sideroad intersection. (There's a Yamaha/Honda place on the left side of the road and a plaza on the right with a store called Vinces Country Market (Rastus' place of work)
Anyhow, turn right there and follow the Mount Albert Sideroad past a Drive In theatre and across the 2nd Concession intersection, downhill into Holland Landing.
I'm right in Holland Landing, I'll pass the address out to those who need it personally. Contact me if I don't contact you.
That should see you right to my door, if you're lost most people should be able to point you in the direction of Newmarket, then once you're in Newmarket people there should have no problem sending you to lil' ol' Holland Landing.

So, that possibly changes things... It may even be quicker for people landing at Pearson to drive direct to Niagara but it'd involve driving right through the center of downtown Toronto... which, from what I hear, can be an experience all of it's own...
I'll review maps further and if everyone prefers to keep their driving as short as possible I'll find my own way to Niagara. Offer for somewhere to sleep for a night or three stands for anyone arriving pre-bash...
Rastus: I love driving. I have 1400km on the rental, so it is no big to be the shuttle for everyone. I don't mind, you just can't touch the stereo.

Figuring right at this moment there's gonna be, hrmm… Gaston, Johnny, Nixxi, Devi and myself looking for a ride... at least 4 of us are going to be nowhere near Niagara... what's the rental costing and what's it gonna cost for us all to pitch in and upsize it to something a little bigger?

The car: Dodge Stratus or similar. (I have no idea, I'm told it holds 5. Which means one of you is in the trunk. Or just squished in the back.) Cost me an extra fitty to upgrade from the el-cheapo special. No worries though, just help with gas a bit and all is cool.
